| It's a career for these guys in a salary capped sport. I don't get why people are surprised, this sort of thing should really be happening way more than it does

| Disappointed to see him go, but gives more playing time to the likes of Lloyd & Burke, who both have more potential IMO.

| Back in the 1980s & 90s I was absolutely convinced that somewhere in Wigan there was a factory assembling back row forwards (Cassidy, Gildart, Farrell, Clarke, Wane, O'Loughlin, Betts). That factory is obviously thriving at the moment and Tuson is just unlucky that he's not getting the game time he desires and that seems to be his reason fr leaving. Wakefield may have offered him more per year but Wigan offered him 3 years so I don't think it's solely a money decision.
If I'm correct then good on him, it reminds me of a certain Gareth Ells who put opportunity before money and it didn't serve him too badly.
I rate Tuson very highly and he's bound to come to Wakefield as a very accomplished and complete player because he's been developed by the best youth pathway in Rugby League.
If you've got a young half back that's not getting in you can send him our way if you like, maybe Ryan Hampshire as he's a Wakefield lad anyway.

As others have mentioned, if Tuson has been fit, he's been in SW's 17.
The coaching staff obviously wanted to keep him on but with Hughes, Burke and Lloyd coming through alongside Farrell and Hansen (who is hopefully staying put) I think we'll be ok without him.

| No disrespect, but choosing to go the NRL (and making it) and choosing to go to Wakefield are slightly different choices. If Tuson had decided to go it alone and try to get a gig in Australia, then that would be a brave move. This seems a little 'safe' on his part but completely understandable.

| By game time I mean minutes on the pitch
By opportunity I mean playing 80 minutes on a regular basis and developing himself, the safe option might have been staying at Wigan but he's chosen to Test himself by going to a lower club where he'll be a senior player.
Ellis left Wakefield for Leeds not the NRL but I understand your point.

| Good luck to him at Wakefield. Can't say I rate him too highly. He's the sort of grafter that every team needs but that practically every team can find. He has his plus points - he reads the game well in attack and can find himself in the right position at the right time. Based on performance though he's shown nothing outstanding that makes me think we will miss him when he goes.
Burke is a better player, it's just important not to throw him in at the deep end. Hughes has more potential and will hopefully get more of an opportunity with Tuson going.

| Makes sense for Tuson really. As nice of a bloke as he is it's not that harsh to say he's not as good as Hansen or Farrell. Add on top of that Hughes, Burke & Lloyd and we've got enough back up as well.
His commitment, work rate and desire means that he's got a big role to play at Wakefield and he'll be an excellent 80 min player along side the very underrated Kirmond.
I really hope this move leads to more game time for Hughes at 2nd row as he could be a very good player for us there.

| Heard about this on Sunday and was disappointed, when he came on the scene never rated him but learned to understand and appreciate his work ethic and consistency.
Great signing for Trinity, think he will go well. If we do not plan on replacing him one of the young lads is going to have to step it up next year if we are not to miss him.

| I'm excited to see Chris in the Red, White & Blue for next season after some good feedback of yourselves and seeing him play a couple of times too. Does anyone know what Shaun Wanes reaction is to him signing for us? Heard it was on your website but can't access it.

Stunned by this news tbh. He's a Wane favourite and a player that will get better and better with age. I know we can't keep them all but I didn't see this happening.'"
Personally I think he's a player that will age badly. He's undersized for the position and runs into a brick wall every week.
He's going to break down sooner rather than later.

| Wigan are the envy of the RL world with the quality players produced - how the hell do you do it? I wish we had a similar production line -but there again we can't keep the ones we produce anyway!

I’m sure you’re right and it’s nwot to do with money and nice to know that the probability of less honours, and just the new challenge has influenced his decision. Good luck to him, I'm sure he'll never regret it.

| Mixed reports on whitehead about how his attack is pretty good but in defence he's suspect ? And he can chance his arm one too many times with the offload ? But it's from the Bradford fans.
I wouldn't break the bank for him as I don't rate him as high as Bateman (wire bound ?)
He's young and mobile however and would complement Faz and take a bit of pressure off him

| I'm amazed that, despite the superb quality these youngsters are showing, people are so eager for us to shell out a load of cash to buy in players who aren't much better than what we've got. Next year we'll have Hansen (hopefully), Farrell, O'Loughlin, Burke, Hughes and Lloyd. Plus Flower who may well move to the second row (where he started at Crusaders) at some point. Lets trust the lads we've got unless someone of top quality (I'm talking internationals or thereabouts) becomes available

We need backs not forwards.

Hansen needs to go to prop, we need someone who can break a tackle and offload. The trouble is Wigan dont have an half back who backs up line breaks the way Edwards use to, and the way Maguire did/does for Leeds, We rely heavily on Sam (who may be gone) and the centres, a good line breaker needs a pass available on both sides.
Sad to see Tuson go though, under Madge we all saw soemthing in him but when the Hoff turned up it knocked him down the pecking order and he never really recovered. Saying that he shouldnt take offence because the Hoff is playing origin so thats not a bad playin second fiddle to him. I keep asking myself who Tuson reminds me of, and I've never been able answer it. Who is he similar to?

| Interesting to read Wane saying in the WEP today that he is determined that Tuson will be the last departure for 2014 and that he's looking to have as strong a squad as possible.
He also said he's got more important things to worry about at the minute then his own contract and that he'll sit down with Lenagan and Rads in due course.
I'd like to hope that means him and Tomkins will be here for 2014.

Maybe Bobby Irvine.

| This is going to sound harsh, but in reality he'll not be missed at the club. Doesn't offer anything that other players can't in his position.
Was very average by OUR standards.

| You have to respect his attitude and reasons for leaving. He wants to play every week and playing second fiddle isn't enough for him.
I liked his attitude and commitment, every club needs good solid grafters, all the best to him at Wakefield.

| I think last night was a perfect example of why we didn't move heaven and earth to keep him.
Last night was his big chance to show Wigan what they've lost. He was, for once, one of the more experienced guys in the side and was given the minutes many have said he needs to be effective.
It has to be said that it just didn't happen for him at any point and he went pretty much unnoticed for the 80mins.
He should have smashed it last night

We might but moving Hansen to prop would IMO be a travesty. If we haven't got a prop who can do that we need to sign one. As is pretty obvious I don't rate Lauaki but his one positive attribute is his offload. If he is the best offloading prop we have we need to sort this out but not with H out of the back row.

Depends what you mean by reminds you of someone but Lee Gilmore wasn't afraid to leave Wigan and had an excellent career elsewhere. Not sure they are the same kind of player though.
