He looks fine when Leeds are dominating, see Manly game for a true reflection of his standing within a list of top line players.

Again the Wigan blindness comes out in the posts. We are talking backrow here.
Where did Ablett play against Manly? If you are basing opionions on that then its not suprising most of you sound positively dumb.

I don't know where you've seen a consistant run of performances from Ablett playing second row to suggest he's better than Hansen, Tomkins and possibly Hock.

| Ablett is a solid enough player at the moment, he is certainly no centre but with a seemingly total lack of top class centres in rugby league he seemed to fill a gap. He is also a solid enough second row, reminds me a little of JJB when he first came on the scene solid if not spectacullar prone to the odd error.
Would he get in the Wigan team in the backrow, not a chance, that is no slur on him but we have a very strong backrow, you would have to say the player he could potnetially nudge out of contention would be Hansen, but he needs to add to his game significantly to challenge the workrate that Hansen brings to the party.
He would probably get in most teams backrows but not Wigan's as it stands at the moment. Simply because he is an unfashionable player I do not think he is poor, but equally he is certainly not that good at the moment either.

Well if you go back to 2007. He played consistently then in the secondrow when becoming a key part of the side going on to win a GF.
In 2008, whilst yes he did win another GF and was a key member of the team, he was very often asked to play centre. When Toopi was available or we switched Ellis to Centre he played in his true backrow position.
We have a very strong depth of backrow talent at Leeds, yet this Lad is picked in the team continuously. He is rated highly by two seperate GF winning coaches. That is good enough for me to suggest he is better than Hansen and Tomkins. With regards Hock, go back a few pages to where I mentioned it and understand fully what I said.

| Quote ="DISA"I think you need to read the posts again.
The championship winners medals were to back up the argument that the lad is holding is own in a championship winning team. We are talking about back rowers, and not halfbacks. We are talking about one player inparticular against a variety of your backrowers.
Other than the usual wigan fan arrogance of believing everything is better in cherry and white, I see nothing to suggest that Ablett would not walk straight into your team in the backrow position.
It is possible that Ablett will be playing in his backrow position this Friday. Watch the game properly then come back with something reasoned. It may be he has to do his sterling squad work and fill in at centre which then does not offer the same basis of opinion, but hopefully you will start to open your eyes to the game as a whole.'"
All of which is a complete and utter irrelevance. Do you stand by your assertion that his medals automatically make him better or not? If so the argument holds true for all players...not just for Leeds players!
As for arrogance...I think you should check your own posts before levelling that accusation at anyone else.

the same reason scruton was. we have a pay structure at leeds. they were both offered better money for a year with a review at the end of the year or a longer deal but with less money a year.

If he was that good he would have had a better deal with somebody else being sacrificed.
Also, if he is as good as Disa says he is then he would have picked up a better, longer contract elsewhere.

no we have plenty of cap space at leeds! leeds have a strict pay structure. something you pie's with your club would find hard to understand. leeds unlike wigan are the example of a well run cap so i dont expect you to get it.
how do you know ablett wasnt offered other contracts? and didnt stay at leeds for the love of the club, and a chance to play for a better contract, as i said he's on better money with a review at the end of the year, apposed to scruton who felt that the money the bulls offered was right for him at the time and signed for a poor club.

As if he'd turn down a two/three year deal from another Super League club just to stay at Leeds ''for the love of the club''. Get real.
Truth is, Leeds' offer was probably his only Super League option.
