| Joels palm of his hand makes contact with Yeamans face looking at the close up and his ball carrying arm initially makes contact with his chest. If thats a ban its absolute .

| Quote ="Cherry.Pie"His leg is raised because he leans into the tackle to get more force behind when he pushes out. You can see it in the second still above. That picture from behind Yeaman is taken at the same moment as the final still, when Joel is pushing forwards with his left foot, so the right leg is raised for the next stride (the basic principles or walking/running/striding).'"
A shocking incident I hope he gets 3-4 matches. FFS people freeze framing a high speed collision. The elbow rarely if ever goes up into the face of the player like that in normal play. When it does it's because there is intent.

I'm guessing you've never seen Nick Fozzard play?

Yes, it makes much more sense to show a high speed collision at normal speed where it's harder to work out what actually happens because it isn't as clear or, as is the case here, it doesn't suit your argument.
Do you remember the Sam Burgess hit on Moi Moi back in the England - NZ international a couple of years back? Burgess uses the same technique making the tackle that Joel does going into this tackle and cracks Moi Moi on the jaw. That was deemed as fair.

And your calling Sam tomkins a wimp on the other thread?
If there was intent with Joels elbow to smash Yeamans face they would still be picking up the remains of him off the pitch.

| There is a very small minority of Wigan fans on here who come out with much credit at times like this by admitting a player may have done something wrong - it's always the same, sensible people too.

| Joel was absolutely stupid and needs to learn a valuable lesson from this. He gets wound up far too easily and can be a liability at times and opposing teams know they can get to him and win penalties or in Sundays case get him sent off. He has a lot of talent but has started off this season poorly imo and needs to step up.

| I'm not sure about the incident as I didn't get a great view. It "looked" stupid from where I was sat, but then you can never tell. Hopefully video evidence will show that first contact was on the arm.
However, why did Lockers agree to allow JT to take the ball in from the penalty in the first place? Madness.
Failing this why didn't some of the senior players stand up and prevent it? e.g. Hoffman?

Whenever something like that happens and both players remain on the pitch, the person involved almost always takes the ball in first.

| Did they ban Ablett for that hit on sam last year? If they didnt (which i dont remember them doing) then they cant fairly ban Joel. One rule for acts commited by wigan one for acts against Wigan.

Did he? I cudda sworn people were on here moaning that he didnt. Either way it went unpunished card wise on the pitch and was much worse so surely joel should get no more than 1 match.

People would moan on here had Ablett got the death penalty because they wouldn't have liked the method.
Given the two incidents were completely different and not even in the same season, never mind game, I'm not sure how you arrive at your conclusion.

Because it was a worse incident and he didnt get binned or sent off. Its called a comparison you should try it one day. This is a forum for opinions and thats mine.

Amazing how the RFL didn't share his views though isn't it.
Can Paul Cooke be added to the whinging pillock list if he isn't technically involved in the game any more?

| Just watched the highligts of the game on SLTV and my first impression (after only watching it once) was that he led with the elbow. Thats all that Ganson had to look at too, one look. It looked dangerous. Maybe with repeat viewings from a thousand angles we might be able to say otherwise but on the day at the time it was the correct decision

Put your handbag down dear. If you want to use comparisons you need them to be similar. For a start Ablett was charged with a grade C offence, Tomkins has been charged with a grade B.

Exactly I said it was a WORSE incident. lol Jesus wept. You can compare any two things you want. Just may be an unfair comparison. I can compare my Peugeot to a Ferrari if I want. It wont end well for the Peugeot but its still a comparison.

I dont think anyone can dispute that as it would have looked bad to anyone at first look. Most people around me were calling for Joels head when he did it one saying "what an effing pr!ck probably cost us the game now the effing dumb barsteward" However obviously now from the other angles etc I'd say theres a case for "sending off sufficient" wont happen though of course.

| Cooke : "They even seem to feel opposing players shouldn’t be allowed to hit them hard!" HTF would he know. I sure we relish the strong phyiscal challenge of RL, it's dirty cheap shots that NO team likes. What a complete t00l.
Wigan carry on winning, first it's lying on, now its the mysterious tackling technique. I very much doubt Mr. Cooke was at the game on Sunday. Hull instigated the dirty tactics not us. No qualms with Joel getting sent off he was stupid and derserved it. Yes, he rose to the bait, and will have to learn (only a little, mind) to cool it when he is delibrately wound up.
Now were 'too brutal'. What are we playing RL or croquet. Unreal this guy.
