Pat wouldn't have scored, the ball went into touch. Clear penalty, though...and should have been 10m closer to the posts with another penalty for dissent.
'"
Just as importantly as 10 yards further forward, shouldn't the penalty kick have been brought 10 metres infield? It was judged to be a late challenge on a kicker ( that may be harsh on Donald, but the fact is the penalty was given) The kick through from Richards then bounced into touch.
Tbh, not 100% sure of the RL rules - I know that in Union the penalty would have been taken from 15 metres infield - this would equate to 10 metres in League. Lockers seemed to be asking about bringing the ball infield to Alibert - he, of course, was following Bentham's advice that the ball should be 1 metre behind the 40 metre line. I honestly think Pat would have kicked it from 10 metres infield - the ball fell short to the left of the sticks.
This is not sour grapes, just curiosity! Wigan shouldn't have needed to be chasing the game after being 14 points up. Wigan will hopefully now come good as they frequently have after a defeat. Do it for 3 games as they mostly ( always?) have after a setback and we'll be champions!

No. Had it gone into touch on the full, then it would (should) have been 10m infield, but the spot is where it first lands (or is caught).

Maybe not Geoff, but an inside ball to Carmont (which is what Pat was looking to make) would have been a try as Donald was the last defender. Either way was a Wigan win....
ATEOTD though, it's all woulda, shoulda, coulda. We need to win on Friday now and perhaps we'll get a chance to redress the balance. ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

| imo this topic shows just how low some supposed rl fans will stoop to when their side gets beat, some posters on this forum need to hang their heads in shame regarding their vile comments!
these comments may have been made in the heat of the moment, or most likely under the influence of alcohol, but i hope that you will refrain from making such stupid and rash comments again.afterall it could just as easily happen to one of your players in future!

Absolutely.
What they also forget in their tirade of pious stupidity, is that ultimately, it's a game. These are human beings just like the rest of us and as such don't deserve, no matter what, any injury being bestowed upon them. These fellas have the sweetbreads to cross the white line for the very Sky Plus paratroopers that criticise them.
Some of the sycophantic ramblings by Wigan fans have been both incredibly inaccurate and with any lack of human compassion. That they feel, irrespective of incidents in the game (and let's remember it was obstruction not elbowing with intent) a professional sportsman there to entertain them whilst they peer at the screen over their oversized paunch, has been "dealt the cards he deserves", is p!ss poor. On every level.
Get a grip folks, this is a sport played for observers. It's tough, it's fast, it's passionate, it's hard. But it's also a sport. Have a little decorum, common sense and respect for what they do.

probably not.
had McGuire not pulled Carmont back, he would have been right on his shoulder - so as soon as Carmont got the ball, McGuire could have made a legal challenge from behind. Carmont wouldnt have outpaced McGuire, so wouldnt have made it to the line, IMO.

Mcguire was on his way down when he grabbed Carmont so i doubt that.

I think you need to actually look at the incident before posting! I know Carmont isn't the fastest centre in SL but I'd back him to beat Danny McGuire with ruptured knee ligaments over a 50 yard sprint! ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif)

according to you lot in the last few days (and in the previous 11 pages of this thread), McGuire only suffered the injury because he brought down Carmont, had he not done that he wouldnt have suffered the injury therefore would have been able to chase Carmont down......?

| just watched the game back on a sky recording for the first time, and as you're all being pedantic on here about which side was shafted and why?
then please take a look wigan's first try on 2 minutes 39 seconds!
prior to the cross field kick to the corner, farrell clearly moves well away from the "mark" at the play the ball!
in the letter of the law should that try have been sent upstairs for the video ref to have a look at?
either way i've seen em chalked off for this self same reason?

Yep, noticed this at the time it happened. But then, that wouldn't fit the agenda.
