| I do think Whelan's ace is that he's named a stand at the DW "Boston Stand", also previously at CP, not that anyone at the FA would know who Billy is. That is where he, or his solicitor, could have them on toast!
If the FA do end up deeming Whelan "Not a fit and proper person" to own a club then DW might just throw his toys out the pram, resign as chairman and liquidate Wigan Athletic!
Now that would be fun!

| I don't think old rent-a-gob is a racist at all, he's just stuck in the past. It's amusing watching him squirm for once though

Doesn't he spend a large portion of the year at his palace in Jamaica, or some where close by? Ex-pat millionaire enclaves aren't often either the most progressive or open minded to changes in social mores.
Just a dinosaur who's stuck in the 60s & 70s. The FA might well fine him though & then it'll be interesting if he carries out the threat to walk away.

| Whenever Whelan opens his mouth these last couple of weeks reminds me of that episode of Father Ted when Ted gets accused of being racist.
I fully expect him to do an interview with a Chinese publication now where he states:

| Guys, anyone got experience of how busy the M6 is likely to be on Good Friday? In the past I've found normal Friday evening games a bit of a nightmare to get to, I missed the start of one game last year (might have been Leeds) cos of being stuck stationary on the motorway. I'm 200 miles South, and if Good Friday afternoons are as bad as normal Friday evenings, I'll need to allow around six and a half hours!
For peace of mind, then, I might then be better to consider alternative transport: motorbike if fine, or train if not.
So if any other fans have experience of heading North to Wigan on Good Fridays, I'd like to hear about it. Thanks.

| I know this is really off topic but this forum is the only forum I know of where its all (mostly) Wigan discussion.
Has anyone heard of any pubs staying open for this fight?
I expected to see a sign outside the Cherry Gardens or somewhere around there when I have been driving in and out of Wigan.

| Last time there was a PPV fight (cleverly v bellew) the only pub we could find in wigan with it on was last orders and I mean the only pub. Literally walked into every pub in the centre and up and down wigan lane before settling for that last resort. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be though to be fair. What time will they be fighting though? Don't think the pubs on Wigan Lane have the licence to stay open so late. Only places I can think of that may still be open when they fight and that have a tv would be last orders or Berkley.

| I imagine the fight will only be on at 3am. Guess that rules most pubs out.
Shame the tudor is no more, no doubt they would have had a lock in.

| Did anyone see the Footy Show last night? Ben Ross broke his arm during an arm wrestling segment with Wendell Sailor. Grim viewing, you can actually hear the break.

| Unless anyone's missed it (I deleted the eMail before doing a double-take), the RFL are asking people about Thursday night matches. Opportunity to vent a spleen & tell 'em where to stick Thursday games [urlhttps://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SLThursdaynight[/url.

Yeh I did it the other day, I'm not really sure what it sets out to acheive; it doesn't really give you the opportunity to criticise Thursday games - just whether you attend them and what could be done to improve them. Definitely sounds like they're here to stay anyway.
I personally don't mind Thursday games too much. I can still get to home games and local away games but not ones that involve a trip over the Pennines, but that's the same for me on a Friday. My main gripe with them now is when the Super8's stage starts the top 8 will be Thurs and Fri with the Middle 8 game on Sat. Middle on Thurs with Top on Fri and Sat would have been better IMO.

| For the last few weeks I've watching repeats of the superb Clocking Off series on the CBS Drama channel (it's on Freeview if you dig deep enough! ).
I remember some of them from way back when they first shown. Grown-up and realistic portrayals of working-class people going about their business are so rare on TV, the quality of the scripts and performances from a great ensemble cast put virtually all modern TV drama to shame.
If you haven't seen them before, or even if you have, they are well worth a look. I don't know how much longer they'll be on for, but it appears to be on most weekdays from 9pm till 10.
