Is the new coach known to IL/MH?



Sadly those are more my thoughts, but lets be honest, IL wouldnt answer the question anyway.

I think there will only be two pre-IL signings left for 2010. Fielden and Feka.



The complaints I have seen tend to be signing players in positions that were not a priority. That is signings have still been made of experienced players but not where we need them.

IL has come out recently and said we are after a prop and a half back. When he first came he said we didn't need a prop as we had 7 signed up (that included more junior players). I don't think any props have left in the meantime though Coley may retire I suppose but on current form he isn't the problem.

Pat and Tommy have signed new deals under IL though.

This is what i have always hoped for and expected and it may well still be the case.

Loves to Sponge's email response from Hogan certainly has me concerned though.

I was thinking about players signed by the club before IL took charge

I think Dave was suggesting regards the cap that there will only be 2 non IFL signings in the squad next year in Feka and Fielden.

Although Pat and Tommy were playing for the club pre IFL, they essentially became his signings regards cap management and planning when they signed new deals under his management.

Good player, nothing special, just a good hooker. To be honest thought they would be bringing in someone slightly better (i heard big Craig Wing rumours) to justify releasing old Fat Neck to Trinity.

Yeah the way they were talking on the Footy show, the bulls had already snaped Wing up. Fatty even quoted his possible salary.

TBH he is a player i would have liked to have seen in the SL, though i must admit my opinion is largley based on his performance in SOO game one were he was outstanding in a beaten side and really lifted the NSW team.

Wing is still on contract, so although available, is not needing a new club and is apparently on a massive wage at Souths so he will prob see his contract out with them before looking for a move.

We can only guess as to whether new signings have been agreed or not (unless you happen to know someone which unfortunatly i don't).

I would like to point out if the players current employers have requested that those signings would not be announced untill the end of the season then wigan could have agreed to that.

Ellery Hanley is the man.

What's the deal with Ellery, some people want him to coach the team, and why not probably the greatest player the country's ever produced and has a pretty good coaching record. Whats the argument for those not wanting him back? Please enlighten me.

As I've said before - people are moaning about '5 drives and a kick' and that is pretty much all Hanley coaches. His teams are the most boring ever.

This team needs a motivator or a bollocker the last thing they need is Hanley who is neither.

He's got a history as both player and coach of being a bad influence in the teams he either runs or coaches.

It’s ok for players at Donacaster who are part time but I honestly can’t see him getting on with players like Richards, Carmont, Tommy, Coley etc as well as I can’t see him having the talent or coaching ability to bring on our excellent crop of youngsters.

We need new ideas and ways of thinking rather going back to the tried, tested and failed.

Wing is a very good player. Never a 'superstar'. Not sure why Super League clubs keep going for very good players rather than developing their own talent.

Quick fixes, fans are impatient and as much as they like seeing home grown talent play, most would see their team win matches now.

Even if it doesn't always work.

There've been few, if any, bigger name signings than Barratt was. And none at all who lived up to their expectations as well - but we still didn't win any trophies with him. We got close, admittedly, but we didn't win the trophies.

Now we seem to be playing a longer game, basing our plans on home-grown talent. I can't help thinking that this is the better and more cost-effective way to go, though I'll admit to wishing that we would sign a couple of seasoned overseasers just to help us through.

Yes, thanks Jonh , that is what I meant. Obviously have no idea how much these two earn but in 2010 they are the only two "legacy" players left.

Everyone else is on an IL contract.
