N Cayless is under contract for another season yet isn't he? I do agree he's be the type of prop we should be looking at though as is another off contract at the end of 2010 in Luke Bailey but i seriously don't see us getting either.

The one thing i'm really struggling to get my head around is Ian Lengan going on this yearly trips to Australia to look at players for 2 seasons ahead of the time he goes. Forward planning is great but when he went in 08 he promised players for 2010 yet these don't look to be materailising and again he's gone in 2009 land is now saying it was more at looking at players for 2011...........when are these trips going to bear fruit or is he just putting a free Holiday through the club!

It's obvious to everyone that we need a halfback and a prop yet thats been obvious for an age now and nothing has happended. I doubt it will again.

I've heard that Kearney would have taken the wigan job, but for the fact that he's actually good friends with noble.

He's apparantly said to Lenegan that he would take the job if Noble wasn't there, i.e at the end of nobles contract.

The problem i can see with that though is that surely an NRL job [Brad fittler anyone would surely have become available by then and surely he'd be next in line and hence taken.

It was stated in the Daily Express that Parramatta would be willing to let Cayless go a year early as to free up salary cap space, they've just signed Justin Poore so will need to make room for him I would Imagine.

We've all pinned our hopes on that old chesnut for the past couple of off seasons only for us to panic and sign any tom, dick, Harry or Amos just because they were available.

I know it's different this year because we may have a new coach but last year it was 'they'll be announced after the world cup' etc etc.

I really hope your right but i'm 99.9% certain we've got no coach or players in the bag and will wait until the last minute again to see who's short of a game somewhere.

When Fielden is off contract at the end of next season i'd be targeting Luke Bailey to replace him. If we could get somebody like Cayless in this year that would be superb but it's all just wishfull thinking imo.

Imagine a prop line up for 2011 of-

N Cayless
L Bailey
Paleaaesina
Prescott
O'Carroll

that would do me very nicely and should be something a club like Wigan should aim to have. It'd be a worry having 3 overseas props but the whole backrow and bench backrower would be made up of homegrown players like Lockers, Joel, Mossop, Farrell etc and we'd have one hell of a pack.

Mr Lenagan did a radio interview in Australia half way through 2008 that got all us Wigan fans excited about the prospect of which players we'd be signing for 2009 until he pointed out due to salary cap restraints it would be 2010 before we could get any high profile players in......Well faur enough Mr Lenagan but now is time to deliver the fruits of that trip.

Don't forget that Saints only disclosed the Puletua signing after they had announced Potter as their new coach.

Not picking sides of whether we have or haven't signed anyone yet, but one thing I will say is that we wont know when the player was signed. Lenegan could have signed a player or players months ago and announce it in October, or he could sign a player on the 1st of October and announce it a day later, what we'll never know was when that player signed on the dotted line.
I personally don't care when there announced as long as there top quality players and help us to improve.

When you come to think about it not that hard of a job to keep the majority of the fans happy is it really?

It’s not rocket science that all you have to do is;

Keep the best youngsters like Tomkinsx2, Prescott, Mcilorum, Mossop etc tied down to good long term deals and when you have an opportunity to replace some one like Coley & Bailey with a world class player simple as.

He seems to be struggling with the balancing act of getting the right mixture of good youngsters, solid professionals and top notch players into the one squad.

We don’t have to sign 6 or seven world class players at the end of every season he only needs to deliver one maybe two to this team to see an instant improvement and appease the fans majority of fans imo.

Have you thought that he may be trying to keep a lid on salary spending? Lindsay overpaid massively for a number of players giving you a reputation of big payers. Leneghan is obviously trying to change that, but it won't be easy, nor quick.

Some of you are complaining about him not acting in the exact same way as you all complained about Lindsay acting, the way that dropped your club in the that it's currently in.
