Great effort from them and they deserve to take the plaudits. I'm proud to come from a town where we have one of the top rugby teams and a Premiership club. Would be nice if more people could see it that way. Whelan takes a lot of stick and I myself have dished it out to him at times, From a rugby POV you can see why people may have a problem regarding the use of the stadium etc but he has done a lot for the town and people need to remember he is a Business man, not a charity.

I'm a fan of both so I'm a very happy man tonight. I'd always put Wigan RLFC down as my first love but I'm a rugby league obsessive and am as much of a football fan as the next man.

The bickering between both clubs is laughable! We're the only town or city in the UK with a top flight Rugby League and football club. It's brilliant for the town and a real source of pride for me and a lot of other people.

Last I checked London was a city in the UK and as well as having a team propping up the Super League they have a few teams up at the top end of the Premier League too. So basically a mirror image of what we have.

There is a city called London but it is small (just 1 square mile) and has no Premier League soccer clubs and no Super League clubs.

The very large administrative area, also called London, is basically a county. In fact in the 30's up to the 70's it was called London County.
It then became Greater London County.

Borough where relegated after being docked 3 points in 97 I think it was, because they couldn't fulfill a fixture, think they claimed the squad had been hit by a flu virus, dont think it had anything to do with the pitch.

Has anyone heard anything about the supposed use of pesticides in and around the of town?

The reason i ask is because my dog was very ill this week with vomiting and diarrhea. Now i appreciate dogs eat lots of stuff they shouldn't and are sick quite often. The reason i mention it is because i know of another few dogs who have been suffering similar symptoms. These dogs all use the same field as mine and others around town (including Menses park).

I have heard it mentioned by a few other people that different pesticides have been used this year by the council.

It could be that a doggy bug is knocking around but i just thought i would ask.

My dog has been poorly, being sick, off food and diarrhea on about 4 separate occasions. A friend'sdog had similar illness and died, he was only 18 months old. A workmate's dog is currently ill too.

Jesus and i though i was being paranoid. There is something knocking around.

Wigan Council are WASTING money yet again. They disgust me.

I've said many times that there was no need whatsoever to waste money on a new logo and therefore new signage all over the borough to reflect this

But their latest jolly begger's belief. They've only gone and put up SEVEN stone sculptures in Scholes, spelling out the word "SCHOLES." It's in the Wigan Observer today - I've looked online but I can't find a link yet, sorry.

Not being funny, but there are people out there SKINT, and councils all over the country - INCLUDING WIGAN - have been told by the government not to waste money, and to rein in their spending - so why the HELL have they done this.

Irresponsible, stupid, and arrogant in the extreme.
