That is a good point. The club will be looking for sponsors but can't say who is the coach for 2010. Now I am sure someone will come back and say, "maybe they do know and will be telling the sponsors" but that is too far fetched. It would leak out and that is virtually guaranteed.



It really is that simple. All this he will look daft if he can't announce who the new coach is just silly. It would have been perfectly reasonable to make such a statement.

In all honesty, Who cares?

We are in the playoffs, that is my only concern.

all these hypotheticals are starting to do my nut in.

The problem is that when some people have got nothing to moan about, they make something up.

In the past couple of years both Leeds and Stains have announced towards the end of the season that their coach was leaving. Both won a trophy shortly after releasing the news.

we had two new coaches this year - Lord Smith and an open top one to parade the cup - not sure if you all know - we won the challenge cup.

cant understand why you want a new coach,noble is doing a good job you have all clicked now and are playing really well,i mean you are in the play offs got to the semi finals in challenge cup all i all it been a good season so far.you have also got a good chance of getting in the final

May have helped that they were both very good, very well coached teams. We aren't. I reckon we'd be less able to take the hit.

But that's my last word on the matter for the time being. It's got so boring and repetitive now that Wire chuckle-brothers are starting to sneak in, having realised that they're no longer out of their intellectual depth.

Using the Saints and Leeds coaches who were in demand as coaches as an example (Anderson was always going to walk into an NRL job) of a model Wigan should follow makes no sense as Noble is more than likely going to have to take a step down after his time at Wigan.

Anderson and Smith left of there own accord i would think Noble is not going to.

I keep hearing poor reasons trying to justify why we should make an announcement now.

The sponsorship one is also poor. To expect a sponsor to be affected by a coach is silly, half the companiies that sponsor the game will have MD's who have no clue about rugby league, they will look at exposure and history.

I am certain everyone that needs to know will know, why the Wigan fans are forever chasing rainbows is beyond me.

Have a go next year when the coach and squad is announced, personally i think you will be pleasantly surprised, enjoy 2009 let the powers that be deal with 2010 as i am sure they are.

Regards the speculation being a distraction, seems to me the only people really speculating about Nobles future is a small section of the RL press, a very small section, and Wigan fans. Nobody else seems too bothered.

Perfectly valid point Dave. There is no reason whatsoever not to at least announce if Noble is staying or going. If as stated above that 'IL does not want to unsettle the team going into the play offs' then surely it further points to a b@lls up by him and he should of released the news weeks or even months ago. Who knows it may of even made the team determined to give Noble a good send off. Do the players even know if/who the new coach is next year? Im not sure,if they dont then isnt that going to unsettle the team?





It really is simple yes. Noble is staying or he is going yes or no its not exactly rocket science is it. Could you imagine the uproar had this been Maurice Lindsay?!

I prefer the idea they treated people like adults and actually decided that the players were grown up enough to be able to take on some news and still play to the best of their abilities. Seems like that concept is a bit leftfield for some Wigan fans.

The players will know the score though just as Noble will.

If the players knew the whole story it would be on here in a flash.

From my experience that would not be the case........and also who is to say it has not been, there have been more than one person including myself saying he will not be here beyond this season.

You don't need to be Sherlock Holmes to be pretty convinced Noble won't be here next season as if he was getting an extension there's no reason why it wouldn't have been announced. Like I said, if the players knew who the new coach was it would have been posted on here by now, given how they leak info to mates etc. I think it's pretty obvious they don't know who it is yet.

Noble will be at Celtic, I guarantee.

Why do the players need to know? The players like Noble will know he is on an outer, other than that why is it important they know who is coming in at the moment?

As I understand it there may be certain issues around bringing in the new man that have made it a long draw out process under the same sentiment our coach may have had things to sort that could mean he did not want it announcing.

The people who need to know will know, i see no reason for anyone else to know at the moment.

Not to mention any sponsors who need to know.

Behind the sceens all the people who need to know where we are with the coaching position will know, we as fans do not.

I keep repeating myself, but I'll say it again, there is nothing to gain from announcing anything at this time because I imagine there is nothing to confirm. If Noble was staying it would be announced, if he is leaving and we are in a position to say who the replacement is, it would be announced.

He is probably going and the replacement is either not confirmed/found (unlikely I imagine) or the replacemnent is under contract and therefore we cannot announce.

To just say he is off without a course of action to follow in the announcement is rubbish, you only tell people stuff when you have the full story.

You as a company owner do not tell your staff their boss is leaving unless you can then tell them what is going to happen once the boss is gone, therefore giving a sense of security to the team

Imagine a press conference where IL walks in and says 'Noble is not the coach next year', and then walks out.

We'd all be thrilled with that!!

There are a few reasons this tread is carrying on 1)People are bored and therefore keep banging on they need some news, 2) people have no faith in IL to do the job and therefore are fretting.

Personally I expect IL will at the end of the season produce a top coach and we will finally all be happy.

Yep, who the coach of the team is going to be has nothing to do with the players does it?

I don't get why people can't admit the whole process has been handled badly by Ian Lenagan.

Things may work themselves out in the end but the club shouldn't keep having question marks hanging over it's head on numerous issues.

It does them no favours imo.
