Having just watched the game again on iplayer, the South Stand clearly shows hundreds and hundreds of empty seats. Like I said nowhere near 23,000. Thought someone had said that South Stand had sold out? If so, why buy a ticket and then not go??'"
..sod that il be in the west stand as far away from you as possible!
saw the highlights on foxtel before and there were loads of empty seats didnt look like there were 23k on,

| Well where I was sat in the North was packed, and the atmosphere was great. Oh, it went a little flat when we were getting tonked but all in all I had a great day, plenty of singing and shouting.

| Quote ="silver2"What was the reason behind the traffic problems yesterday. Coming from Warrington I thought 2 hrs would be plenty whereas in practice I only just made it. Is it the same every week?'"
Yep! The saddle junction down to the stadium is a pain in the , and traffic ends up often being backed up towards Sainsbury's. The traffic coming from the direction of the Town centre was shocking too, but that's purely because of the bottle neck on the other side of the saddle junction. Traffic was backed up from there all the way up to the magistrates courts.

| After being at the game there didnt look 23k inside that groung yesterday but why does the band go in the north stand as the supporters know its the away end and maybe better if they was in the south to try and create some kind of atmosphere as it was the worst for amosphere since we have been staging games there for a test match.

Think that's going a [ibit[/i far, don't you? As mentioned already on this thread, it was quite a decent atmosphere in the North Stand.

| I was in the North stand and couldn't understand people bagging the atmosphere. We were sat near the band and it was pretty good in there.

| Never 23k on. But i'd imagine that all the free tickets sent out to Local Amateur Clubs were counted also, which would account for the big gaps in large blocks of certain stands. 23k tickets may have been dispatched, but never 23k in the ground. The atmosphere wasnt that bad - pretty flat at the end of the first half in a very 'Oh here we go again' mood. But midway through the second half everything perked up and I actually enjoyed my day. If we'd have competed in the first half we may have won.

| I think the problem was everyone went in the ends of the ground and the sidelines were scattered about. They charged far too much for the touchline stands.

The North stand always gives off a better atmosphere anyways, the roof on it is solid and bounces the noise back , whereas on the South, it's clear plastic.

| There was IMO deffinatly no more than 20k on saturday. There was so much space in the East stand and the west stand was even worse. The prices were shocking and thats the reason!!!

I was sat on the North side of the east stand and it was good at the start but pants for the rest of it. Had the game been closer it would of been a much better atmopshere. Atmosphere is bad at any game when your time gets so dominant and the game is ove by half time.

Yet people quite happily paid £65 minimum for the American football at Wembley the previous weekend.
It doesn't make sense.

Novelty value Brian. We can watch live top class RL nearly all year round. We can even watch amateur RL through the winter but generally speaking you'll only get 1 chance a year to watch live NFL. There's a hell of a lot of fans of NFL in England too.

| My guess was 20-21K - a minimum of 1000 empty in the west stand and i relocated to the middle of an empty block of 500 in the boston. There was no way there were only another 500 empty seats throughout the ground.
You can't blame people for not turning up if there isn't going to be a contest.

had it been a night game the atmo (and crowd) would have been better.
at the very least people would have seen it as a reason for a day out. the early afternoon kick gives very little time for all but the seasoned drinker to have a pre-match session. I was in Wetherspoons at 11, and it was pretty much empty. Had I gone in at 3 for a 6pm kick off I expect it would have been packed.

I must have been in the wrong one then, was 4 deep at the bar at half 10, and Walkabout was similarly busy.

I think the attendance would have been bigger too had they lowered the ticket prices.

| As far as im aware there was no free tickets for local amateur clubs for this game.
Being linked with NWC League and Hindley we were offered 50 tickets for the France game but as far as i know nothing for this game.
Indeed i bought 40 tickets for Hindley U17s and friends to go..
