Can't see Coley & Bailey accepting one year deals when they could get longer contracts elsewhere.
If IL doesn't bring in quality signings this time around then the season ticket sales will drop and the weekly crowds go through the floor.

Carvell has made a massive difference to the Wire pack and the team. Morley's game has lifted, Clarke is playing out of his skin and their pack is now a force to be reckoned with.
That's the difference one quality prop can make.

So why are we still waiting?

We haven't signed a prop or two because everyone we've looked at Lenegan has deemed wrong for Wigan, whether that's because there injured, past there best or simply want to much money, Lenegans been able to find fault in them all, it just makes you wonder what the fault was in Tronc's case.

i can find fault with both webb and o'meley but even with their faults they would still be better than our current first choice forwards (fielden and coley)

i just wish i knew what IL was playing at

2 good points, people are already talking about not renewing season tickets for next year, and Warringtons pack is the big worry in the semi, not the backs, we will struggle to match them up front.

like you say, we have them beat hands down in the backs (imo) but if our forwards get flattened then we will struggle

I can almost accept making no signings IF we resign the players who are off contract on 1 year deals, and also we bring in a new coach.

If we do not bring in a new coach and sign Phelps, Coley and Bailey for anything more than 2 years i seriously worry that my love affair with Wigan will come to an end.

To me the club gets fed bull*hit from NRL players agents and fall for it bigtime. If they've heard of them at all, yet they're still cheap they'll take a punt but with somebody like Tronc he's not a big name and we'd have been too busy fannying about looking at Carl Webb and wheather to break the minimum wage to sign him we've missed out on exactly the type of player we needed, playing well, right under Mr Lenagans nose.

The squad has more depth to it then it has had for a long while and thats good but to win trophies you need at least 3 or 4 top class players and we don't have them. We had 2 in Hock and O'Loughlin and thats now dropped to 1.

We have to start developing more of our own quality players but that will only happen if they come into a side containing some quality already that gives them a liecence to play with freedom and protection and our youngsters don't get that.

Well it better be world class quality because whats the point in waiting to the end of the season to announce a webb or paultua (sp)

if i was dreaming id say we where not announcing any signings as we are looking at SL players to sign and therefore cant announce anything until after the anti-tampering deadline

saying that, i dont think theres the anyone of quality whos ooc so transfer fee's would be necessary

we missed out big time on carvell but if hes on an absolute fortune then i can understand not signing him but we must be looking at similar quality players

I’ve been a staunch supporter of IL up to now but;

We need a prop and a half back for next season it’s been glaringly obvious since the moment Trent decided he was leaving.

Everyone apart from IL can see it but yet he does sweet FA about it. Like another poster said if you want to you could pick faults in every player out there and decide against it

It’s just not acceptable that there have been some excellent players who have either resigned with their current teams i.e Dobson, Lockyer and Orford or good players gone to other teams- Carvel, Ryles, Tronc, O’Meley or worst of all good players he’s turned down i.e Webb!!!!!! WTF is IL not signing Webb for when he’s available? IL has lost a hell of a lot of credibility for me by turning a class enforcer prop with a real nasty streak down like Carl Webb.

I’m really starting to think that IL is a tight fisted owner of this club and although I’d be more than happy to eat my words and be proved wrong I honestly can’t see us signing a top draw Aussie player like Renouf, Lam or Barrett ever again under him as he just won’t pay the money that is required. (Gleeson is good btw but not in the same league as the above imo)

It’s a safe bet to say that if Mo would have been in charge and would have had at least one of Thurston, Lockyer or Dobson playing for us. No if’s or buts about it MO made the signings happen and yes some were bad like DV or Ainscough but his good ones Lam, Renouf, Richards, Feka, Trent, Newton, Dallas, Furner & Fletcher far outweighed them imo.

IL could well lack the balls to be the Wigan chairman imo………..

I read somewhere probably in the Wigan Evening Post that the club have supposedly a number of ex NRL coaches who advice them on who's available, what kind of form there in and whether we as a club should sign them.

I suppose the big question now seeing Tronc's signed for Wakey, is who are we chasing if anyone? One of the only people left that I know who is available and could do a job for us would N Cayless.

IL has seen him play this season as he's watched Webb play live. I'm sure Tronc played really well in the game IL was there as well

It’s really starting to pee me off that other teams like Saints get their business sorted nice and early with minimal drama. They need a coach so they go out and sign Potter with plenty of time in the season. They are lacking fire power up front so they sign Pauleta to bolster them or the see a weakness in the centre position and go out and sign a quality young player like Soliola.

Why is it we still have an underperforming coach who no one knows what to do with? We’ve still not announced one signing for next season either?

The more time that goes by without a signing being announced the more I think we have no-one lined up. Don't think there is a new coach lined up either.

Would have to agree with that, we cant even approach a player with out it leaking into the press, just look at the Kearney situation we couldn't keep a lid on that.

It’s obvious the new coach won’t have signed them so why wait until the he’s appointed to announce them?

I honestly don’t think we’ve made any for next season and I very much doubt we’ll sign the class of player we need to either.

One of the reasons is the uncertainty over Noble and who will replace him imo. A massive decision like that should not have been left till so late into the season. Even the Kearney rumours a month ago where far, far to late. Noble should have been told he was going about ten games into the new season after it was obvious we were continuing down the same route as pervious seasons with majorly inconsistency and players just not performing.

An appointment of a new coach for next season should have been done months ago.

If you tear up with the thought of Griffin imagine when they announce the double signing of Thorman as well, I hope the Wigan chapter of Samaritans are ready for a busy day.
