| Quote ="Wigg'n"I can see us picking up only 3 wins max before July - Wakey (maybe), Leigh and Hudds (maybe). We'd then need to win every game in July to get close to the top 4.
Better start praying for an easy cup run (and a win against Swinton)!'"
I don't think we win a game in May except for maybe the CC and that isn't a certainty. Not sure how the bookies will see that one.
If we are not in the top 4 at the end of June I can't see us making the top 4.
The number of injuries we have is crazy and to expect us to achieve much in such circumstances is a little illogical even in such a poor competition with perhaps Cas excepted.
I'm just hoping we can nick a win at Swinton and I'm praying for a non SL team in the next round to salvage a bit of hope for the remainder of the season.
Not being overly pessimistic just think that the injury list is too deep and too extensive particularly with no goal kicker and very very limited front row options going forward.

| Just seen some more updates in the WEP-
Gelling-Better then first thought and could be back in six weeks.
Leuluai-Should be back this month (presume they mean right at the end)
Sam Tomkins, Bateman and Gildart-All back end of June.

It's the fact we are losing 2-3 injuries every game that's crippling us!
What's the chances of losing one or more of:
Faz
Joel
Isa
Burgess
Tautai
FPN
This weekend? Roll up, roll up....Place your bets!!

| A lot of doom and gloom on here although I have to agree it's looking like an uphill battle to get a top 4 place. Last week was a big test,we played an under strength Salford and got beat handily,by the time we get back to a team capable of challenging we could be well out of it.Might possibly end up in a position where we need to win our last 6/7 games. It will be a shame if we don't make the play offs as I think fully strength we are the best in the league by a fair distance.

| Not impossible by any means - this team with the key players fit is capable of winning plenty of games back to back.
Saints came back after being 8 points adrift of the top 4 last year.

| Can't beliebe how pessimistic some people are being about the Swinton game.
The pack alone should easily be able to handle them. After that there's still plehry of quality in yhe backline to tackle a team outside of SL.
We should still win quite comfortably

Yeah they did require a collapse from Catalans but I'm hoping Salford could do something similar. Hopefully a good win against Swinton will give the young lads confidence to kick on and they can pull it out of the bag in the coming weeks,Warrington and Saints should beat us but you never know,we've been backs against the wall before and pulled it off.

I'm sure Huddersfield thought that as well.

| On paper Wigan win by 20+ even 30+ for me. In real terms we're a team desperate for some form and a win, there is a lot of pressure on this game. Even more so coming in as probable heavy heavy favourites.
Swinton have nothing to lose and will be going all out for a victory. John Duffy is a personal friend of mine and a very good coach and will no doubt have them firing. That said I'd expect nothing less than a Wigan win with Swinton coming out firing for the first 15mins of each half.

| Wane said Sam will be another 6-8 weeks, surely not! Sam just been asked on BBC and he said he's running better now and is about a month off but doesn't want to rush it.

| After today's game SW has said Williams, O'Loughlin and Leuluai are all in contention for next week. That would be a real bonus if they're all genuinely fit!

That must be the first in a while without injuries!
Keeping everything crossed we can get the likes of Tomkins, Bateman and Gildart back before the cup game but that maybe optimistic.

| Some of the comments on here are a bit doom and gloom, but then again it's the same every year, especially last year. Don't understand why we can't win a SL game in May, it's Magic Weekend next week where we have a great record and some bodies back, then Saints who at the minute are very low on confidence followed by Wakey at home.
I'm not saying we will win them all but don't understand the overly pessimistic comments. I strongly believe by the end of the year we will be there or there abouts.

Yeah, can't disagree with any of that. Frankly, we won't play Cas every week (and whether they can maintain their good form remains to be seen), and there's nothing special about the rest of them.

I think everyone will feel a bit more optimistic now we know Williams will be back, Lockers and Leuluai could be back and Sam Powells injury isn't too bad.
Last week it seemed like there was every chance we'd go to Magic with Gregson and Joel Tomkins in the halves. They did a manful job yesterday but it wouldn't win us a game at superleague level.
It's a big couple of weeks coming up. Get a couple of wins and we're bang in contention.

| These next two games against Wire then Saints are massive in terms of our chances of making the top 4. If we lose them both, we could only afford to lose two more games through the rest of the season, with Castleford, Hull FC (twice) Leeds (twice), Warrington and Saints still to play against.

Last season Saints came fourth with twenty wins and ten defeats, but Cas were in fifth place with fifteen wins, a draw and fourteen defeats. Cas were also in fifth place in 2015 with a record of 16 wins and 14 defeats.
I had thought along the same lines as you, that we can only afford to lose 9 or 10 games to get in the top four however we need only be better than fifth place by a smaller margin than in the last two seasons. All of which is a ham-fisted way of saying that 12 or 13 defeats might still be okay.
