| Quote ="FLYINGPROP"Sorry mate but Paul Reilly had a season where he was top or pushing for top (behind Wellens) fullback of the season.
Any other team and he would have got a shot with GB/England, you cannot comment cos you dont watch these players every week.
Raleigh is outstanding for us week in and week out and would say on current form is performing well above the likes of Hock and O'Loughlin but can guess who will be picked for England.
Crabtree is another who week in week out delivers for us, playing better than Burgess of Bradford so in my opinion should be picked before Burgess and get a shot with England.
It's about time we picked players on form and not which club they play for, cos picking players like Sinfield, Farrell and Sculthorpe at standoff for GB rather than someone who plays that position, from one of the so called lesser clubs has not got us very far in the past has it?
Like I say pick 1-17 of Wigoon players and you will be happy
'"
So you see Hock and O'Loughlin week in week out?

There's so much to laugh at I don't know where to begin!
Yeah it's a conspiracy! Even Ex Hudds coach Tony Smith was told Not to pick any Hudds Players!
He asked you a question, as far as I see it you have failed to come up with any kind of decent response, so as far as I see it, You've been put in your place!
He asked you for a list of 3! Not 33! You would think Shudds would be able to come up with 3 over the last 20 years or so wouldn't you!
Ask us to name 3 and we can probably name 33!
Ask us to name players who have played SL/Old 1st division in the last 20 years and we could probabaly name 133!
You were the one who came on here all cocky because youv'e managed to get yourself a bit too over excited about being 3rd a quarter or so through the season, I suggest you save that cockiness for a time when you actually may finish 3rd at the end of the season!
You were the one criticising Wigan for having too many Foreigners when you lot have been more than guilty of that previously!
I believe we have around 8 Wigan Lads (9 if you include Hansen as he's been at Wigan since he was a kid) in our 1st 20 or so players at the club (It will actually be 9 tomoorow as Gleeson's signed!) that We have produced.
How many Huddersfeld lads have you got in your 1st 20????
I bet theirs more Wiganners in your 1st 20 than Hudds lads and your trying to take the Mick out of us for Not helping GB!

| Just had a Nice PM responding to my quote above! Here Goes!
Jay Dee Wrote
"Yeh you do have a look at hudds last 2 seasons league places
2008 admittedly poor 10th..however both Wild & Aspinwall missed most of season through injury so i find it hard to blame them. Although they did play in the 34-4 home thrashing last July
However I think you need to brush up on your research pal though..2007- 5th place finish..above the 'mighty' Wigan, full of ex wigan players interestingly.
2006- CC Final, full of ex wiganers again..can't be bad pal.
Oh & another thing. When was the last time the 'mighty' Wigan actually reached some major finals???...2003 GF, 2004 CC, both participated by Wild, Aspinwall, Hodgson, brown 'etc'.
How many times have you seen these blokes play in the last 4 years???....take the rose tinted wigan specs off, try to get some knowledge about the game & prepare yourself for an age of mid table mediocrity. 1995 was a long time ago sunshine"
I think if you look back at the previous posts it was a Hudds Fan who was lamenting Wigan for not bringing enough youngsters through and playing too many Aussies!
He was asked to name 3 GB players over the last 20 Years! 3 that's all! Not sure if he mentioned to get 1!
At the same time he even had the gaul to say in a roundabout way it was Wigan's fault that GB were so poor against the Aussies!
If you can't take it, don't give it! and I'm afraid mate he lost his argument Big time!
Now if 1 CC Final and getting pasted in the last 50 years is something to start crowing about for Huddersfield then Wiganners deserve the right to talk/brag about 50 Major finals in the past 25 years or so!
Yes, you may be right that our success over the past 3/4 seasons has been very poor by OUR STANDARDS! But you see tht's the difference, by Hudds standards that last 2 would still have been a success story!
The reason those 4 or so you mentioned arent at Wigan is because they were simply "NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR WIGAN!". We may have been limited in our success at replacing them although I feel we have better players than all of those at Wigan at the moment even though we are poor and not playing well (You will see if you look hard enough that Wiganners actually feel it is the coaches methods who are to blame!).
Would any of those players get into the current Wigan team?? I Doubt it!
Do I lay awake at night worrying about losing any of them?? No!
You see it takes a Big Player to fill a Wigan shirt and whilst being a Big fish in a small pond may be ok for some players and going to Huddersfield may suit them and maybe even help them improve without the pressure of being at a Big Club, it doesn't mean they could Handle it at a Wigan or a Leeds for example!
Wigan are struggling a bit like Man U did for all those years when teysigned players to try and catch Liverpool but eventually they did get the right mix and look what happened then!
Wigan Will get it right at some point and I'm afraid we won't be gloating over a 3rd place qtr season and 1 CC runners up in 50 years!

| The latest developments regarding Gleeson have somewhat generated optomism for the future that has not been there in a while, it does show we are making effort and willing to invest in the club when it is needed.
Although the initial post was not aimed as a dig at the club, I have to say that the recent events have been well managed by the club, i have made my issues clear regarding what i think is at the core of the problem, but i am happy to see positive attempts to kickstart the club back into life.

It's obvious fools like you lot won't agree unless he wears a cherry and white shirt.
Raleigh in and leave Hock or o'Loughlin out? you choose!!
Don't bother to reply cos unless i posted a 17 of purely Wigoon players ya won't be happy.'"
So let me get this straight, you call wigan for letting young lads go, but by your own admission, hudson started at hudds and was shipped out to cas? Was that about the same time you brought in brad drew? You will have to tell me as i dont know about your commings and goings sorry.
And Raliegh may be a decent hard working forward, but at international level, you need a little bit more than that. And fine by me leave hock and lockers out, put raleigh in, but then when we get mullered who you gonna blame. And so Riley was the second best full back in the league for one season, will have to take your word for that is I always thought he was a hard worker but nothing speical. Still second best fullback dont get you a starting shirt when there is only 1 fullback in the team now does it!
Oh if forgot it will be Wigan for selling their kids!
Blaming us for all of rugbys ills is getting old after 20 years, can we not start blaming two bit clubs like huds wakfield and Cas who have contributed the sum total of nothing between them to the comp over the last 30 years!

What are you blathering on about? you asked me to name 3 and couldn't but I named 6 who I think should have played for GB/England? I didn't come on here boasting and bleating about how fantastic Huddersfield were and how poor Wigan are until provoked by people who cannot see the wood for the trees.
I responded to a comment by a Wigan fan who said a club of Wigans size should be in the top 4? why if performances are not good enough to get you in the top 4?
also responded to comments that Brown, Robinson and Hodgeson were garbage and again I disagreed, think it's nice to have a difference of opinion else not much of a forum is it?
Enjoy the rest of your season and if I lost whatever argument we were supposed to be having, I'm fine with that too
I look forward to seeing the next England team picked
Oh by the way we have 8-9 Huddersfield lads in our first team squad too

Absolute piffle,I am not sure where you got your info from? shows what you know, Raleigh was signed by Huddersfield from Huddersfield University team before moving to Sheffield and Hull KR and then back to Huddersfield and Ryan Hudson was signed by Huddersfield from an amateur team in Castleford. I should know my dad signed them!!!!.
WE also had Ben Westwood, Ryan Bailey, Jamie Jones-Bucanan, Lee Gilmour to name a few down at Huddersfield for talks before they were picked up by any of the other clubs, We took Fozzard from Leeds second team before he then moved onto Saints, just we couldn't offer as much money as the other teams.

So in a round about way you finaly agree that you to let your young lads go!
Still i suppose why let the facts get in the way of a good dig at Wigan.
And i asked you to name players who PLAYED for england/GB not people who could have, should have, would have if only nasty wigan didnt stop them (You really sound like a bitter little boy).
Unless you havent noticed we been crap for about 5 years now so you will have to explain to me why you not producing internationals is anyone elses fault but your own?
And talking to players isnt really something to hang your hat on, of course every good junior talks to teams, what you need to is to get them to sign at 12.01am on their 16th birthday like super Mo did with shaun edwards.
And before you start, we had only just come back up then and not been dominant for years!

They are not products of the Huddersfield system though they developed at other clubs. You cannot say they were developed at Huddersfield in any way shape or form, and to say you should know, Raleigh signed pro from Newcastle University and his first club was Sheffield not Huddersfield after he finished at uni.
It is you talking "piffle" claiming that any of the lads you list above are products of Huddersfield when they served there apprenticship at other clubs, simply because they were once in the Hudds system does not make them a product of it.
Regards Foz he was more than a Leeds second teamer he was a first team player who suffered a career threatening injury that developed into a life threatening condition. Fair play Hudds gave him a chance, but again he is far from a product of the Hudds system.
Think your dad told you a few fairy stories to send you to sleep by the sounds of it.

Oh whatever, I'm bored less of all this everyone has it in for Wigan garbage, You are the ones who started it all by saying Robinson, Hodgeson and Brown were crap, not in your opinion but they are crap end of, no one else views count.
Well believe what you want but they doing ok for Huddersfield at present.
I never said Foz started at Huddersfield or any of the others apart from Raleigh and Hudson, purely that they were picked up by the Huddersfield scouting system and we could not afford to sign em. I am not blaming anyone for this just stating a fact.
The argument that Hudson was developed at some other club as he played amatuer first well I don't know what to say. I would imagine most players played for some amateur club first or did Wigoon sign all your lads when in nappies and just took the chance they would make rugby players.
Can't be d anymore, whatever you say is gospel and everyone else is wrong, If ya don't want others coming on here to try have a debate don't have people come out with crap that it's Wigan's god given right to be in the top 4 as they are a big club, sorry but does not work like that anymore.
Please also don't diss teams like Cas , Wakey and Huddersfield who have all won and deserved to win at the JJB, they can only beat whats in front of them!!

Who has stated this argument?
Hudson was briefly in the Hudds system but developed at Wakefield to a first team standard player.
Rallaigh got his chance to impress at Sheffield due to his performances for GB students, he came on leeps and bounds at Hull KR where he developed into a SL standard player. Hudds gave him his shot fair play but he was hardly a product of the Hudds club given the fact he was 23/24 when he signed.
No need to throw the toys out of the pram and claim anyone is saying Wigan have a right to be top 4.
Simply because in the past Hudds have really not concentrated on development is of little consequence, what is important is that they are doing so now, which they are. They have been one of the poorer clubs until recently to do this though without any shadow of a doubt.

It was not brief. The only reason he left the club was that john Kear did not rate him
Using the RFl definition Hudson and Raleigh are both Hudds 'home grown'. If each poster wants to use their own definition of what constitutes a club developed local player then it is hardly surprising there will be irreconcilable differences.

| Can totally understand the disapointment amongst many supporters of the club at present, this year was marked out by Ian Lennagan when he arrived at the club as being the year when the club would get back to winning ways but all we have seen so far is inconsistencey once more and some dubious coaching decisions.
Two important fixtures for Brian Noble this bank holiday, we desperatley need some hope at the moment and beating Saints is the perfect tonic.

Home grown has nothing to do with being a product of the club it simply aims to clear up the quota mess.
If by home grown you mean produced from the club then i do not think they do. Ralleigh made his pro debut at Sheffield at around the age of 21/22 he then had 2 further years at Hull KR which would have made him 24ish when he joined Hudds.
Hudson though i will give you but the irony is that you got rid after 1 year of first team rugby, after which point he went on to captain his country and county, and better still is no longer even a Hudds player. Kind of sums up the development of Huddersfield. Wigan get slated for releasing some players who come from a large pool. Hudds release one of there best products in recent history who went on to great heights and you are using it as a defence of your system!

I couldnt care less how many players you have or have not produced, that is your issue, not mine (as a supporter) I was simply responding to that muppet blaming wigan for the poor showing at international level.
He was asked a simple question, and could not answer it, then to start making things up is pathetic. You cant claim a 24 year old signed from somewhere else as a player you have produced!
Anyway, the sooner every club starts doing their bit with regard to junior development, the better the state of the national game will be in and i think everyone regardless of being a Wigan fan or not can agree on that!

Hudds release one of there best products in recent history who went on to great heights and you are using it as a defence of your system!
'" :2foe2mz2'" :2foe2mz2
Once again you are completely wrong. The 'federation trained' classification has been used to address quota issues. The 'homegrown' classification is explicitly to encourage clubs to develop their own players. It is easy to confuse these issues if you do not grasp the detail.
So Hudson :2foe2mz2was :2foe2mz2with us for a reasonable time! Glad you now have got your facts straight. Hurrah. Kear was the head coach and Kear got rid of him. I agree he was an idiot for doing so
I have never slated Wigan for releasing players so your [

So are you willing to accept that infact neither Ralleigh or Hudson are actually home grown (my bad on the wording) as you claim as Hudson does not play for Hudds, which makes your stance even more strange and Ralleigh did not sign for Hudds till he was 24/25?
Add to this the fact the Hudds have had to pad out the first team squad with the likes of Richard Lopag and Chris Lawson to fall into line with the minimum requirements of this rule is hardly great is it?

I understand what the RFL mean by federation trained and homegrown. Your ill informed comments about homegrown and the quota show that you are clueless. Getting your knickers in a twist over the defintions re Hudson and Raleigh shows you are out of your depth. Why not spend a little time checking the facts rather than spouting prejudices.
You may not like my views but to specifically name a couple of young guys - giving their best - and denigrate them is really cheap.
I may find your ignorance on RFL categories of players laughable. I would not dream of naming some youngsters at Wigan or Wakey and insulting them to make a point.
Shame on you jonh.

Slow down speedy. I hold my hand up and say i got that wording wrong, fair play no problem. But you are claiming Ralleigh is a "home grown" player when clearly he is not, he joined the club as a 24 year old, i would know as i spent much of my time at university playing with and against him.
The point regards Hudson is you or your friend can claim him to be home grown, but the point is he plays for Castleford.
Given the fact sometime almost 5 years since i stopped playing the sport i had to pull on a Giants shirt last year to play in a reserve fixture it shows just how inadequate the system was at the club......something that i am glad to say is changing.

| just to join the debate after the first post (dont think ive posted in this thread before), tonight will be our first game of the season.
that is in part due to the pathetic performances of the last 3 or 4 seasons (for which we have had season tickets) but also due to financial constraints that mean we cannot attend as many games as we'd like. in truth, the only reason we are going tonight is for the £10 tickets we got through the NHS (although i think we would have been attending anyway )
if whats on show isnt worthing paying for then people wont pay or go the extra mile to find the money to attend
looking forward to a good game though
