| JT has really monstered it during the first third of the season, as have the other younger players who have siezed their chance this season.
We seem to be a more buoyant team than the quiet teams we've had as of up to last season. Confidence breeds confidence and I'm glad Madge is sticking to his guns of picking players on form, rather than reputation.

| I agreed with the comparison to Dennis Betts on an earlier thread. On reflection he probably has more of the Simon Haughton about him. It seems he feels capable of bullying opposition players, no matter who they are, and looks like he'd run into a brick wall if it was put in front of him. A joy to watch this season!

| Quote ="razzledazzle"With Joel playing like this why would we need to look to bringing Hock back in? Joel has the same pace and strength as Hock and in a similar fashion to Hock he's managing to break through the tackle. He also has a very confident carry and good handling skills. He doesn't drop the ball and doesn't give away as many penalties as other second rowers. What an exciting player!
Oh and he filled in well enough at centre, much more of an attacking threat at centre than Bailey.'"
Joel and Hock on the same field fills me with excitment and i'd imagine would fill other teams with dread.
They'd terrorise the opposition but it's a long way down the track yet.

| Not sure.
There looked nothing in it at all but I was in the South Stand so who knows. If you can get away with the incident Morlye did before our game against Wire then you obviously have to do quite alot to be banned.

| The report incident was suggesting that he intentionally dropped his knee on a Leeds calf in the tackle. Replays suggest that he didn't hit the leg and there was nothing in it. Just Ganson covering his backside.

I also think Lee Mossop has what it takes to join that list of players that can terrorize the opposition...the future is looking very bright, we at last seem to have the right blend of home grown and overseas talent

Punching holes all over the place last night wasn't he!
He is a huge lad and it's scary that he's only 20/21.
He's going to be some player.

| Nevermind a good prospect, he is a good player here and now.
If he kicks on he could be a GB regular without a doubt. He certainly seems to have the right attitude for it.
Now if he could drill some of that into Hock, what a back row we would have..........

| Can't wait to see his agression step up a level next week at Saints! He runs it in like every driver matters. O'Carroll deserves a mention for that same reason as well.

| i was chatting to a bradford fan after our game there, and he was banging on about how much Joel had improved, and that he looked international class.
if opposing fans are noticing, he must be standing out.
and for me, iif he carries on improving i think we might have a contender for man of steel?

| Good luck to Flanny who is taking his chance in Aus, but if Flan is impressing the Aussies whay would they (god forbid) make of Joel and Mossop?

| No need for Hock and the disruption he will bring with him if signed next season, we have a superb 2nd row of Tomkins, Hansen & Mossop, and for those saying lets bring Hock in at prop, why would anyone want to do that, i would rather have a 100% prop who has played in that position all of his career than making the position free to accept somebody who could have been a star but was too dumb to do so, let Hock go to Huddersfield or somewhere else, he won't be missed

| Joel Tomkins has been outstanding this season. One of the most improved players in the side. He has stepped up a gear since Hock's departure and must be in contention for an England place. Did he play the full 80 last night? He has had a brilliant season so far and I hope he keeps it up. My MOTM last night.

| Said it last season Joel is a unsung hero in the Wigan team, this season he has really stepped up a gear or two.One of the only few things I agreed with after watching last nights match this morning is that whoever is taking over the England job should be looking at Joel.

| Joel Tomkins should really be in the England side for the French game. This guy has been superb for you this season and if he continues this form should get International honours. That could one hell of a back row with Ellis and Burgess not to mention O'Loughlin who also has been excellent this season.

Back row of Ellis + Burgess with Lockers at Loose, Tomkins off the bench. Frightenin bulk in the 2nd row, and enough creativity as well.

That would probably be the best back row in the world if they all stayed fit.

There's other people like Langley and Ben Harrison that'll be pushin as well. Serious options in the 2nd row at the minute. Kev Sinfield shouldn't be near the team though, he's a quality player but everyone mentioned so far is better.

I have allways said Sinfield is a first class club player but he isnt up to standard for England and we have far better players anyway who should be selected before him. Hopefully the new England Coach will bring in the best peforming players to every Tri-Nations and World Cups. I every much doubt this will happen thou and they will go back to the players we have used in the previous few years and end up getting knocked out early in the piece as usual.

I understand where you are coming from, but Hock in any team will improve it imo.
Then again his return, or state of mind is not certain atm.

| If we keep getting injuries halfway through matches, I wouldn't be suprised to see him at centre for England, particually with our lack of quality there atm. Would be a waste though, but we are starting to get far too many back-rowers and not enough of anything else.

| Joel Tomkins is a freak in the better sense of the word. A huge guy with the agility of a back, I know he has been brilliant in the 2nd/back row, but id love to see how he goes at centre. Particularly when we have Hock back and possibly Farrell.
The only players i can think of in the game at present with a similar mix of size and athletisism are Inglis and Folau. If they had come through the ranks in the UK im sure they would have been molded into forwards due to their size.
And with regards to Hock in my opinion he should be re-introduced as a Prop.
