| I'm quite happy with that game. I feared the worst after 20 mins but the effort and attitude was brilliant considering our current unprecedented injury crisis with most of our first 13 out. Wire were full strength at start and as soon as Sandow went off they were flat in attack.
Thought the youngsters went very well and dint look out of place. Hard to pick out a Wigan player who had a bad game. Matty Smith is usually made the scapegoat but im a fan of his. Manfredi was outstanding again. Mossop has stepped up in recent weeks as well. Farrell a bit frustrating but still put in a good stint.
It bodes well for the future of our club the quality of the youngsters that come through our academy. Tony smith and Richard Agar are notorious for neglecting the Warrington academy in favour of journeymen like Westerman, Cox and Bailey. Our academy is taken for granted i think by our fans but the quality we are producing is brilliant. Players who understand the clubs culture and know how to win.
Full strength we will walk this league easy. The quality has never been lower. The trophies are now clearly going to be between Wigan and the Wire and I still dont rate this Wire team - dont forget its largely the same team that floundered at end of last year and almost got the coach sacked (Mick Turner was sacked instead as a scapegoat to save Smith and Agar's back!).
I was a little disappointed to see diving and feigning injury in the game. Daryl Clark dived i thought on more than one occasion to get a penalty and Ratchford seemed fine after his 'injury' once he was awarded the 8 point try.
Anyway, onwards and upwards. We are competing very well at present and with a full strength team we will be fine come the business end of the season.

| We don't neglect our academy, not notoriously or in any other respect.
Cox a journeyman...at his age with only KR as his other previous club.
Wire's fitness and conditioning has improved 10 fold this season, so Turner...scapegoat or actually not as good as the guy in now (Jon Clarke).
Whether Ratchford was fine is immaterial, he COULD have been injured.
Clark earns the right to a fast ptb, get off him simples.

| You think they are, your prerogative.
I just checked the league too, they didn't give you any points for a 'moral' victory, I'll speak to Big Nige tomorrow if you like.

| I do agree in some ways it was a moral victory and I think Wane saw it that way too from his post game interview.
When saying we only had 600k on the pitch it just shows what injury troubles we have although we've managed to keep grinding results out.
I do however think if Wire didn't lose Sandow to injury it was looking likely that the margin of defeat would be wider and I was impressed by him and the way Warrington attacked when he was on the pitch.
I'm confident that if we get players back from injury we will make old Trafford but I see Warrington as a massive threat.

1. I think Wigan were outstanding given the length of the injury list, my bum was twitching after Manfredis 3rd
2. We don't neglect our academy, we're not at Leeds, Wigan and Saints level yet but we have improved dramatically the past 5-8 years. We have seen players like Jack Johnson, Gene Ormsby, Rhys Evans, Toby King, Gareth O'Brien (now at Salford), Declan Patton, James Lathwaite, Brad Dwyer, George King, Kevin Penny, Ben Evans, Ben Currie, Joe Philbin and Tyrone McCarthy(NRL).
3. There was no diving or feigning injury, we lost two key players to injury as well
4. How are the trophies going to be shared between Warrington and Wigan when you're going to "walk the league easy" and you don't rate us?
The majority of Wigan fans display a high level of knowledge of our great game. I'm guessing your post was fuelled by post game disappointment and you're not really that narrow minded. It's going to a great season and expect some more tense battles along the way.

In a week where the world has lost a great comedy performer (Ronnie Corbett), it seems that the comedy Gods have promoted someone to fill the gap. Well done, that man.
Either that, or your delusionmeter has broken. Possibly, the most one eyed post I've ever seen on RL Fans, and that takes some doing

| Wire are clearly the team to beat.
We'll have a far better chance with a full team of doing that. Last night was always going to be about damage limitation as soon as the squads were announced.
The superleague needs games between these sides at full strength. The RFL really messed up planning that for just after Easter.

| Three weeks ago, Widnes were the team to beat, the vagaries of the season... Be interesting to compare attendees of the Easter period with past years. That could also be a deciding factor as well as the obvious, and more important, wear and tear on players.

I wouldn't worry about one poster. S/he is not representative of the vast majority of Wigan fans. To be honest with some of the stuff this poster comes out with I'm not sure they are a Wigan fan at all.
As for last night you started brilliantly and we were not at the races. I dread to think what would have happened if Sandow hadn't pulled his hamstring. Taking nothing away from Warrington in the first half we were I'll diciplined and defensively poor. The second half was much improved for us and possibly the best we've attacked all year. I think we are struggling more with the players we have missing being in key positions.

| At last, some common sense. Well said Nicky Kiss (as usual) and Wigan Peer.
2 points (and a bit of bragging), but that's it.
Nowt won in April.
As for the Easter schedule....I don't mind it, Good Friday and Easter Monday. I just think the RFL should tell Sky to take a running jump, about having a game on the telly, on the following Friday (or even Saturday).
Let the players catch their breath, and play all that round's games on the Sunday. If they insist on 2 TV games that weekend, and no clashes with non TV games, simply have 1 kicking off at 12:30, then 4 non TV games kick off @3 pm, then have your next one kick off at 5:30. Simple. Players get extra recovery time, and Sky still get their 2 games.

| Wow. This is one deluded post. Others having already picked the necessary holes in the post but Wire at full strength? Missing players who would be in the 17:
Dwyer
Dodds
Harrison
Laithwaite
Sandow (after 25 mins)
Evans (after 20 mins)
We don't have as many injuries as you but don't kid yourself that we were full strength!

The post is clearly to get a few bites from Wire fans but we've got to be sensible about it. Where and how would you fit Harrison and Laithwaite in your side? You'd have to be telling me you're dropping two of Currie, Hughes, Westwood or Westerman and you clearly ain't doing that. If you're saying you could put Harrison at prop then you'd be selecting him ahead of Hill, Simms or Cox and again that won't be happening.
If everyone was available for Wire Dwyer would have been in possibly for Ratchford (or for Evans with Ratchford at centre) and Dodds would probably be in for King. Tell me anything else and you're telling porky pies!
As for the in game injuries, I blame the RFL for Sandows. We also lost the our best player who's our captain and the England captain. Swings and roundabouts on that score.
As I've already posted there's far bigger and better games to come which should give a more realistic gage of where both teams are at.

Finally a fair enough summary.
Struggling to see how Dwyer and Ratchford fit on your bench unless you're dropping a back rower but it's the closest I've seen.
Our strongest team would be-
Tomkins
Manfredi Gelling Gildart Charnley
Williams Smith
Flower McIlorum Clubb
Tomkins Bateman Lockers
Tautai Farrell Powell plus one of Crosby/Mossop/Sutton.
A definite 6 missing last night and a potential 7 if Crosby were to be selected.

I thought that the plan was to move Lockers to prop this year and Bateman to loose? If so, you are wrong about our strongest team.

We'd still be missing 6 or 7 from our strongest side either way.
