| Did anyone else think last nites crowd was quite low? Just not sure what the reasons were for it? Considering leeds brought about 1000 more than usual (the bandagon of being champs again must have had its effect as i reon around 2k travelled last nite) i would have expected a crowd of 18 to 19k withabout 16k wiganers and 2k leeds adding to the crowd!
Wat we got was 15300, 2k of which was leeds meaning only approx 13300 wiganers bothered showing up for our first big game of the year. Given we averaged 16k last year and that is likely to be the 3 rd biggest game of theyear im a bit worried we could see a big drop in crowds this year unless there was a reaon? Was it the cold, orthe fact that people are struggling to stillpay xmas creditcard bills or is it the sign of the times with the poor economy.
Its not justthe gate receipts im worried about too- thought it looked poor on the tele with the east stand looking nearly as bad as a normal latics game. The missing 2 or 3k looks massive in our ground and is the difference between the crowd looking pretty packed or generally quite poor. Also felt the atmosphere suffered with those extra missing seats.

| The bad weather and stupid time to play helped to keep a low attendance. And when they shift to Monday night games.......I mean come on. Now that will affect attendances for sure.

| We have a core of about 11,000 fans who turn up almost every week. I'd say another 3,000 who turn up for biggish games, and then a further 4 or 5k who turn up for a massive game, but not in the freezing cold of February when the game is on TV.
It's a fact that those fans who aren't quite as fanatical, aren't going to turn up rain or shine. They will only come when they want to. Just under 16k is probably a little lower than we would have gotten for a mid season game, but it just means we can pick out a game against a lesser team for the big one later on in the year, meaning we can average that out.
We've had 2 healthy crowds already this year, we're probably top of the attendance averages, or will be once everyone has had 2 home games. I can't see us missing out on a couple thousand this week making a big difference. After all, the marketing team have had the fixtures for a while now, and would have had a rough estimate in mind for these games.

| The weather, and being on TV, would have a lot to do with it, but also there were nowhere near 2000 Leeds fans there, unless they were somewhere other than the North Stand - I'd have said more like 1200-1300.

You think that's an excuse! I'll give you a goodun, it is after all the reason why I missed the Salford friendly.
Two day's before the match I'm wandering through Tesco's when I come across the nut section, now it's years since I've had any dry roast nut's. So I thought what the hell I'll treat myself. Big mistake!!!!
Anyway I get home that night and start on this 200g bag of peanuts and before I know they've all gone, all 1200 calories of them. So off's to bed I go. Next morning I can't turn me neck. I literally have to turn my entire body to look in the direction I want, I can't even look up or down. Added to that it hurt's to walk because of the vibration traveling up through my body to my jaw, so I have to tip toe everywhere. Eating? Forget about it, I can barely drink at that point. The cause? I put it down to pulling a muscle in my jaw, all caused by eating a rather large packet of dry roast peanut's. Tuck me a week to fully recover. Probably never eat a peanut again.

Well Round 1 crowds across the board are generally always higher than normality. I wouldn't say it was a poor crowd. Perhaps the fact Man Utd played Liverpool earlier in the day had a few going the pub for that rather than the DW but it's a standard attendance that for me.

How do you know it was that? They were spread out across three sections but looked like they could have filled two if sat together, which is why i'd guessed at around 2k - That seems alot less than it looked?
If 1300 is right from leeds that still puts us on a pretty worrying 14k home fans! Need to do a bit of work to get some more bums on seats for the next few games.

| I think the progress we've made with attendances over the last decade has been fantastic.
In 2003 we were getting crowds of 7k for a couple of Super League games. The fact people feel a little disappointed with a crowd of over 15k shows how far we've come.

Thats the north stand attendance figure. Gawd knows why people are saying its a poor crowd. Think some forget that 8,000 crowds used to be regular attendances at DW Stadium. We've added 5,645 to the average in the past 10 years - a fantastic achievement considering we moved to the DW in bitterness rather than wanting it.

| I still know of five fans who have never been to the DW/JJB since we moved. They also insist that they never will! I'm sure there's plenty more around. Silly really.
15370 is a decent crowd for a cold Saturday evening, round two fixture. When the weather warms up, the fare weather fans will turn up.

I just find that a staggering attitude. Life goes on. Yes, CP has many happy memories but it's time to let go and move on.

Compared to recent Leeds crowds at home during the regular season it was quite a poor crowd. Would have been much higher had we beaten Hudds.

That's not exactly a fair comparison though is it? The 2009 game was a) The Big One and b) played in mid July. Our first big home game of 2010 was vs Hull FC with a crowd of 15k (we didn't play Leeds for another 2 weeks afterwards. The 2011 game was also played in mid July.
If you look at the home games played at this point of the season, the figures are roughly as expected:
15 Feb 2008: vs Cas 16,667 (Home Opener)
20 Feb 2009: vs Cas 12,079 (Wakefield the previous week )
12 Feb 2010: vs HKR 12,429 (On Sky)
I don't think 15k is a bad crowd considering the weather, Lpool v Man U earlier in the day, on Sky and the Hudds performance.
I still think we'll get the highest average home attendance again.

| ...and of course the 'tics were playing just up the road at the Reebock at 3pm. There will have been a few who would have gone to the footy and then watched the rugby on sky rather than try and get back to the DW in time for kick-off.

| For the last two weeks, the South has been advertised as being sold out, when in fact both times it clearly wasn't. I was particularly irritated by that this week as I left it too late to get a ticket and could only watch on sky.
This made me wonder, are crowd attendances measured by the turnstiles or based on ticket sales?

Yeah fair point on the increase in crowds - was just pointing out that I would expect the averages may drop a little this year given we got a significantly lower crowd for our 3rd biggest game.
Where you manage to source a north stand attendance figure from anyway? Didnt think the club would release a breakdown? Would love to get the same figure for latics games if only to prove to their dilluded fans they average less than 12k home fans!
