| People talk about Wayne Bennent as being the best coach in the world, but I think Madge is already running him close, he seems a geniune nice guy and a very good coach, Id love to have him at Widnes.

Don't be daft. Got a long way to go to be compared to Bellamy, let alone Bennett.

He's won every prize over here and I think they will win Super League again.

| Are you sure MM is such a good coach .... John "The Brain" Kear thinks Wigan are boring ?
Personally, I want this man to pick my lottery numbers next week .... he's a legend, particularly the way he handles the other clubs weekly moans/excuses for losing !

He's a Wigan fan and I've got to agree with him, I also agree with what has already been said, he's made the biggest impact since Graham Lowe.

From a Wigan point of view maybe but Ian millward had massive impact on super league as his record proves.
I like maguire tho, it's obvious he's a great coach and gets what he wants from his players. Wigan under maguire are a very well drilled team.

Millward is a turd who inherited an excellent team. Maguire transformed a team of nearly men and made them champions within 12 months with only one signing too, a year later and 3 more signings he's made them cup kings!
Millward isn't fit to be named in the same category.

Are you saying your team isn't excellent then? Because Millward did to Saints exactly what Maguire has done to Wigan and then Anderson topped it off by strengthening the defence, turning the team into a quadruple winning side.
And we won the Cup under Millward too, as well as the Championship. I think we did the double under him one year as well.

As Maguire? You don't like him because of 75-0 (preceeded by 70-0 if memory serves).

So you're saying Ian Millward is a better coach than Michael Maguire? I think you will even struggle to find other st helens fans that will agree with you on that one.

| He must be the most talented coach Wigan have had. To turn them round so quickly is sensational. This time last year we had won nothing for years. We now currently hold all 3 British trophies at the same time.

Millward did nothing with Saints sweetheart, like I said he inherited a good team, Millwards strategy was however many tries you score, we'll score one more, in the end Saints players hated him.
Maguire is ten times the coach and person that Millward will ever be.
And seriously, what would you know? Your a woman, no place for women in RL.

But does that mean he's had the biggest impact on super league?
Maybe some fans are still on a massive high of winning the cc and still posting based on that.
Don't get me wrong, MM is a top class coach and I like the bloke. I'd have him at saints without a shadow of a doubt (swap you for Royce? ) but to say he's the best coach in the world and to say he's the best coach to happen to super league IMO is a little ott.

| In regards to Madge versus Millward. Madge is now returning to the NRL to a head coaching position, something Millward was never able to achieve without getting it by default and then failing miserably at it.
Personally I think Madge is the best coach to grace SL and as debatable as that maybe, if he manages to turn around South Sydney like he did Wigan. Then it will for me go along way to proving he's the best coach SL's ever had. We shall wait and see.

Lack of ambition?
Easier to stay at Saints where the going was good rather than really test himself?
Don't get me wrong I'm sad Madge is leaving, but perhaps he's taken us as far as he feels he can. He's brought us back to the top in the process winning every domestic trophy on offer. And now wants to test himself in biggest and toughest comp in the world. Credit to the guy!

Maybe he's not good enough now but at the time he was. Milkweeds problem was he got to big for his boots and thought he was bigger than the club.

Or you could say he stayed loyal unlike maguire
At the end if the day, millward would have gone here the money was and it's obvious saints must have paid more.

| If anyone wants to compare Milward to Maguire then just look at them now. 1 got headhunted and was 2nd choice after Bennett for South's headcoach position. The other is in Leigh.
Milward did well at Saints but at Wigan he turned a potential GF side into a relegation standard. Noble came in and by the end we looked like a side that could go to the GF. But Agent Milward had done his Saints duty and destroyed a decent side. If Maguire fails in the NRL then i bet he will get into SL very quickly. Milward will not get into SL again.
