Just on my way to London on the train and there is a notice up on Wigan North Western station NO trains from Wigan on 27th & 28th August as the west coast mainline is closed between Crewe and Preston. If you are planning to go down Saturday come back Sunday you need to check with Virgin as it looks like it's bus to/ from Crewe.... Lovely They couldn't have picked a worse weekend.

Clueless decision, regardless of who wins on Saturday. I've done the train twice on cup final weekends and they were overflowing both times.

You can get trains via Manchester Piccadilly though.

Cram on Northern Rail from Wallgate to Piccadilly then down to Euston.

They have done a similar thing the past 2 years!

i noticed there dont seem to be any trains running to Wembley stadium, closest is Wembley north.
unless someone can tell me different?

How many go on the train nowadays,its normally a rip off although im sure a few years back they did special trains from Wigan.

perhaps they should again?? our last final was on black saturday when we lost to saints in cardiff and they put them on then??? it's either that or 2 seats on a coach full off p#ssed kids??

trains are running to Wembley central from euston which is then not far to walk to the stadium

The trains that run to Wembley Stadium station use the Chiltern line and run from Birmingham Snow Hill into London Marylebone.

yep the certainly did special trains in 2004, I was heavily pregnant so chose this as the better option for loos etc. I pre booked seats only to find eight widnes fans sat in them. I politely asked them to move and they laughed at me and swore. So off I went for the guard who also laughed at me. So i went back, knocked all their cans of ale on the floor and perched myself on the table. Eventually after me being a pain in the derriere, one of the guys (who was a police officer) got up and gave me his seat. My kids laid on the floor all the way to cardiff

Flying Edinburgh to London £54 return and that includes an all day london Transport train / Tube pass . Even on Easy-Jet you are guarenteed a seat (you might have to fight for it ) on Virgin trains or the like you are guarenteed nowt at twice the price and more , even if you have pre booked seats as LLL has pointed out .

The 30 minute train takes about an hour and 15. About the time it'd take a rail replacement coach there.
