If Riddell does miss out it's going to be Leuluai at 9 with Deacon at 7 and at a guess Stuart Howarth on the bench to cover the halfs and hooking role.

Yeah, that's probably the best option.

We're more than covered in the Halves and Hooking role. there's also Same Gee in the reserves who could be brought up.

it might be healed in time for the game but I dont think it would be worth putting someone on the pitch who isnt fully fit when we have enough cover in this area.

I disagree, IMO we have looked better with Riddell at 9 and Tommy at 7, than when Tommy is at 9 and Deacs at 7.

Agree. We've got a lot of cover there, and the squad has strength in depth, but it's already a shame that we've got Phelps out for Saturday without losing another player who's been part of two extremely solid performances so far. We're not going to get through the season without picking up knocks and losing players for a few weeks at a time, obviously, but for this Warrington game I'd want to be going there ideally with an unchanged line-up for maximum confidence. Fingers crossed things don't have to be shuffled too much.

Thankfully when things are going well as they have been injury blows are softened because imo they become more an opportunity for somebody else to shine in a winning team then when you got injuries whilst in bad form. Everybody panics then and the pressure on the guys coming in is huge.

It'd be a shame to have Riddell missing on Saturday aswell as McIlorum and Phelps but we should at least have a couple of hungry players coming into a confident team.

If ture then as you say above more game time for the youngsters who will be up for the derby.

Lee Mossop is a prime example of a lad thats got his Wigan career up and running on the back of a couple of injuries to others(and a suspension to Hock). He was sensational on Friday night but if Lockers and Bailey hadn't been injured last year and Hock hadn't been a plum he'd have probably been on loan somewhere now.

Theres a big chance on Saturday night for a player or two. It could be Pryce, Goulding, Vievers, Howarth or whoever.

Hopefully they can take it.

I was torn between bringing Howarth in or doing as you say and bringing Bailey back in with Lockers having a trot at 9 when needed.

I'm just as happy with either tbh.
