All,

Anger and bitterness aside regarding the current form of the side; can someone who was at the match give an honest appraisal of Coley's performance on Friday night?

Given that this was his return from being dropped I'm interested to hear how he personally performed.

Well he wasn't as bad as he was v Wakefield. But then again he was fairly anonymous. Just played his normal game.

Dreadful. The only positive I can come up with is that he caught the ball.

He sometimes caught the ball.

But still didnt run straight

theres no impact in his hit-upS. And doesnt give of any confidence or aggression. really wanted him to succeed here but this will be his last season IMO

The annoying thing IMO about Coley is the way he ambles into the tackle with the ball. Once contact is made he THEN starts to drive. If he put that effort in when receiving the ball he would be far more effective.

Stood in the centre with his hands on his hips?

Coley has his moments and when he's playing well, he can rattle up a few scores. However, we didn't lose any sleep when he left The Willows, as he doesn't seem to be a team player.

IMO his best position is as a second rower, and when he runs thru the centres at pace, he's pretty hard to stop.

He is never a prop and I don't understand why Karl Harrison tried to turn him into one.

Looked like that on Friday, didn't acknowledge the crowds (although to be fair there was a lot of booing going on, so it's understandable that someone would think 'sod that') and didn't huddle in with the rest of the team, heading straight for the tunnell instead.

I knew Andy from his Swinton days. He had a prodigious workrate and was easily the fittest player in that pretty awful side.

I always thought he'd make a solid top-division player. But never anything more than that. He just doesn't have the tonnage.

If anything he's overachieved.

if he ran like feka or fielden he would be brilliant with the size of him, but he runs like calderwood - sideways looking for a gap, never finds one so the defence closes in on him and he ends up further back than he was when he got the ball.

To sum it up he is sh*t.

Unlike some threads, the comments so far haven't been made just so they can have an opportunity to have a exaggerated whinge about a player performing badly in a poor side, they are pretty much spot on.

He'll get the ball and plod sideways whilst just looking at the defence and waiting to take a tackle. His defence is ok...Until he gives away another penalty. That's about it for Andy Coley.

He's a reserves standard player.

If he ran his weight into the tackle, he'd probably be half decent and make some yards. At the end of the day, he's just a prop, he doesn't have to do the fancy stuff, we just need him to be a battering ram.

Coley might [iplay[/i at prop, but he's never one in a million years. It's not that he doesn't try - he's just under-gunned.

It's like asking a cruiser to be a four-decked capital ship.

Problem is he ain't a second rower either.

But to "Not-Arsed" to be a Prop

He would be ok if he did a few squats in the off season to bulk up his legs. He is an average player and out of his depth at Wigan, he looked a decent player at Salford and in the first half of last year he did ok but he should have put some size on in the off season if he is to play prop this year.

his work rate is decent dont know why everyone fails to notice this. last year his stats were much better than other higher paid players. and if you want an honest opinion why asked these biased coley haters. He offered nothing in attack but safe and sound in defense and i think there are bigger problems at the club than coley. best prop was feka , then o'carrol then coley then fielden last friday.
