| The club have clearly made a huge mistake appointing Adrian. Physically inferior, technically inept, tactically woeful. Completely out of his depth.
Its exactly like 2006 - we pulled the trigger just in time then. The league has more depth now, if we don't act quickly we'll be in big trouble.

| His body language and his pre and post match words are very very poor but he has been put in an impossible position by those above. We’ll give you a job for 12 months only after a very popular figure has walked out the door and we’ll also let our two best players leave and even though we’ve needed a quality scrum half for years, we’ll nip in and sign you one in front of Workington.
A mess.

To be fair, we did go for Hastings and Lam first. Wonder how different things could have been if we had managed to get Hastings.

We went for Hastings In October and Lam in December.
We knew we’d signed Hardaker (a runner) and lost Tomkins (our only kicker and organiser) in April/May.
Wire needed a replacement for Roberts part way through the year and had Austin sorted quick sharp. They also knew Brown wasn’t good enough and got Gareth Widdop sorted 14 months in advance of 2020.
It’s not good enough. Lenagan is a legend but even legends have their time come and go and unless he’s got bold plans up his sleeve, I really hope he’s looking for new investment/new owners.

Agree to an extent, but the club went for Hastings as soon as they could. Hastings wouldn’t have started negotiations before the end of the season out of respect for Salford
If you hope he’s looking for investment then you can’t criticise the lack of recruitment. As if he’s going to sell he needs to balance the books to actually get some form of decent offer. Otherwise he/we will have our pants pulled down if he sells a club making 600-800,000 losses.

| Its not Lam, the blame lies with Lenegan for trying to be clever and actually just creating a complicated mess where nobody knows where they stand. The Wigan players LOVED Wane, he was like a father figure to many of them and his replacement had to be spot on. I think what we are seeing is not so much the lack of ability of Lam as a coach but a team that was so attached to Wane that they now are finding it hard to play for a new coach, especially an inexperienced one like Lam.

Why weren’t we looking around the market before Hastings though? If we were it was done very much on the quiet. We’re a ‘make do’ club with signings nowadays. We react to circumstances such as drugs bans, players being binned off in Australia and players from the championship rather then having a scouting team which targets players they believe will improve us.
We know that leaders like Tommy and Lockers are reaching the end of the line, so you want to pass that baton down to the next in line but we’ve sold them/lost them/will lose them in the not too distant future. If Saints can keep Walmsley, Lomax, Makinson and Roby why can’t we even manage to keep Ryan Sutton?! We couldn’t keep Tomkins, Bateman and many more and we won’t keep Williams.
I like to think of myself as a reasonably sensible supporter but it’s wearing thin tbh.

My biggest worry at the moment is: where are we going to get the next points? Not in the 3 weeks at least.

It was telling when Wane announced his departure that our form dropped off a cliff. Some said it was because they’d stopped playing for him but the players were pretty much in grieving mode and that was proved by the almost super human defensive efforts seen in the last few months of 2018 to ensure they sent him out on a high.
Lams being hung out to dry by a nostalgic punt by Ian Lenagan.

Can’t argue with that, we’re forever looking for oppprtunities to sign on the cheap. Likewise, I’ll typically stand by Lenagan because of his track record but letting Sam/Micky go are two absolute shockers.

This is my worry...there are no easy games in SL this year, probably the first time in a long time...
Wire away, Salford away, Catalans home and Cas away in the next 4 weeks...we could be in some real trouble before Easter! It gets no easier after that either with Wakey away and the Good Friday against Saints. With no confidence and no leadership, this team could fall apart.

I’m a Lenagan backer usually and always was. The tosh that he’s tight as cramp is just that. He played the salary cap perfectly but with marquee rules, home grown dispensation and so on it’s not like he was and we’re in real danger of being left behind because we’ve now cut the playing budget at a time other clubs are actually increasing theirs.
Leeds are proof that spending guarantees nothing but we’ve never needed 5 or 6 signings ala Leeds or Wire. What we needed was a good scrum half to compliment Williams and Hardaker and we needed to replace the heartbeat of the side in John Bateman. They keep saying Greenwood replaced Vateman but ultimately he came in when Joel Tomkins left and Joel cannot have been on pennies. Over the last two off seasons big big earners have gone and they’ve not been replaced.

| Think Lam needs a few more games, if you win at Warrington next week....then things might look a little different. If he is replaced, then I would go with a coach with a few years of Super League experience, and that includes Betts !

| Where were Wigan when the likes of Fafita, Murdoch-Masila and Kasiano became available? Every one else has strengthened their squad (not just Saints and Wire, but the likes of Catalans and Salford too) whilst we have weakened ours.

Spot on and i wonder how much Wane going had to do with Sam, Bateman and Sutton suddenly wanting out? Now Williams is off, makes you wonder, or it could just be very unfortunate timing but seems too much of a coincidence.

I sense it was the other way round. Why did Wane walk away from the job he loves? My guess is he was informed of the cut in playing budget and that he was losing Tomkins on top of losing Micky Mac before the seasonand he knew Bateman would likely be off and he’d had enough.

| Given Greenwood and Faz are out injured that team tonight with the possible exception of Sarginson was close our best first 17. I mean you could argue Budgie would replace Marshall but other than that, this is what we have. Dropping Davis was hardly controversial and neither was dropping Sammut. The fact that is basically it and we are paying to the cap is a joke.
The idea that IL has managed the cap well is nonsense. We have players out on loan all over the place who will never be good enough for SL. It's never mind the quality, feel the width.
IL has got rid of Mcillorum and Sam Tomkins and with the inevitable loss of Bateman that is three key players who have not been replaced with Hardaker not the same type as Tomkins. If I gave full vent to my feelings about Powell and his three year deal I'd have to ban myself.
Lam is on a hiding to nothing with this squad and unless something happens recruitment-wise Edwards won't be working any miracles either. But you can add to that Lam has never coached a first grade side. OK he was PNG coach for a bit but he lacks experience and by the sounds of it has hardly any backroom staff. His name came up as a permanent replacement for Wane when Wane resigned and I never understood the enthusiasm but as I said, I think with the squad he has, he's on a hiding to nothing anyway.
Another issue might be the players are so wedded to Wane that they can't or won't play another way or for another coach. Not good enough is so. That is just speculation though. The loss of key players and their replacements either not fitting in yet or just being downright poor is more a matter of fact.

Oh come off it. SL is in a race to the bottom, the standard is dire.
We won the whole bloody thing with this shambles last year.
We need a new coach immediately, Lam isn't up to the task, it's as simple as that.
