| Outstanding team performance and tough to single out players on an individual basis but what a player this young man has become.
I never really thought he would be a long term Centre solution but how wrong was I?!
English fans run round talking up in my opinion some very average centres (Percivall) and Gildart rearely gets much recognition. For me if he keeps performing at this level he is comfortably the most talented British centre playing in the league.
Pace, toughness, puts his winger away and potentially a very important player for us over the course of the next decade, assuming the NRL don't come knocking as he is certainly capable of mixing it with them.

| He outplayed a centre in Jack Bird who people rate as one of the worlds best by quite a distance.
He's going to be a fine player, in fact he already is. He's loving having his big mate back at the side of him.

| As soon as we lose a few games people will be on his back, I can virtually name them too. Not big enough, send him to Leigh, etc.

| [listI'm not a betting man but I have just placed a bet on a rank outsider to win top try scorer this season. When I saw the odds for Gildart at 66 - 1 I couldn't resist but to put a tenner on him. He knows the way to the whitewash and has already got two in the first match. With Joe outside him I think he will get loads of opportunities. He wouldn't be my favourite to finish top but at that price he is worth a punt. [/list:u

Yeah send him to Leigh , top player , always looks dangerous , seen so many 2 on 2s where hes pulled in wingers and created an overlap , he hits the gaps so hard and looks to be a handful for the defence , I rate him very highly !

Well I will freely admit that Wane has shut me up as far as size is concerned. With Farrel and Bateman we must have the smallest second row in SL plus Tierney, Escaré and Gildart will regularly play against much bigger opposition but it seems to make no difference. Perhaps Jonh can tell us just how we seem to impart so much strength to these smaller players?

| The Cronulla site clearly rated his performance in their match report stating that 'Oliver Keldart' scored our third try.
He also set one up for Joe Bearjizz (ok I made that one up).

being fatter/heavier doesnt make you stronger , stay leaner and youll be the same strength but lighter , quicker and fitter! Farrel and Bateman have a high work rate and can go for 80 mins being heavier would probably hinder that !

| Heart counts for a lot, of course, and the current Wigan squad seems to have a lot of that. I hear the camp is very settled too, with everyone getting on with everyone else. That can only help.

I am happy with that. If the NRL scouts come over looking for a Mr. Keldart all well and good!

True enough.
I must admit watching Gildart, Williams, Bateman, Sutton and even Burgess play so well yesterday did feel a bit like a double edged sword.

| Do people seriously think that Aussie clubs don't know who the English players are? They will all be being watched.

Of course they are but they clearly think they're far superior to us and when English lads play well against them, that could just help them take the plunge.
It's a bit like us over the years really, taking the plunge on guys who impressed against us (Guys like Billy McGinty and Terry O'Connor back in the day right through to lads like Blake Green and Tony Clubb).

Yes I remember playing a cup match at Rochdale when we had the team of all stars such as Hanley, Edwards etc. We absolutely slaughtered Rochdale but one of their prop forwards had a blinder that day. I think it was the following season that we signed him. The player - Neil Cowie.

| Gildart's defensive work is starting to remind me of Gary Connolly when he switched to centre and dominated all before him in defence. Gildart seems to have a sharper step and is a bit more explosive than Connolly was but to me he seems to be on the same upward trajectory in his career as Connolly was at a similar age.

| What a great left edge we have this season. And clubs can't hardly relax when we go right with Tommy Bateman and Gelling over there. The criticism from pundits and fans that we were poor in attack last season ignored the obvious fact that most of these players were injured or missing!!!

A bunch of us were talking about exactly that in the Central after the match. Burgess, Gildart, Farrell, Williams will do a lot of destruction this season if they can all stay fit. In fact, it would be difficult to find a better quartet for the England positions, in my not so humble opinion (adding in the factor of the understanding they have between themselves) ...though other clubs fans may not agree!

I hope that is what is picked for England in the world cup. The one I'm most desperate to be included is Liam Farrell. He's taken some stick at international level for not being big enough and even I've been fooled at points in to thinking that but that clearly isn't an issue. The issue at international level is that he hasn't been given the game time he needs to excel. He has a Rolls Royce of an engine and he plays at a greater intensity then his opposite number each week for a longer period of time. He should be picked in that second row and play 80 minutes of every game in the World Cup. He's easily the most under-rated player in superleague.

Completely agree. When you are in a hole and you desperately need ten metres it is Faz who delivers every time. When you need a break, more often than not, he delivers too.

Well there you go - game 2 and he gets another brace. I think those odds will soon be coming down.

But Gelling hasn't played well yet this season.

| Gildart was no worse in defence than anyone else. But again our left edge won it for us. Tommys kicking was woeful again. Time after time Matty saw us home in tight games last year. Just what was Tommy doing on that last set?
