| Not a chance that'll happen.
Powell has been going quite well at 9 so he will keep his bench spot at least, probably even start. Hampshire won't come in at 6 at this point of the season.
I wonder if we'll give Waterworth a chance off the bench though.

| What was wrong with Gelling towards the end? He went out in the wing and could hardly move.

Don't think we can afford to start with Crosby against their pack, he gets hammered way too easily. Likewise we'll need Lockers shoring up the defence. Charnley at centre could work but I wouldn't try it for the first time against Warrington in the Super 8s. I'd go:
FB 1 Bowen
RW 22 Manfredi
RC 3 Gelling
LC 14 Bateman
LW 5 Burgess
SO 20 Hampshire
SH 6 Williams
P 23 Mossop
H 7 Smith
P 24 Tautai
SR 10 Flower
SR 12 Farrell
LF 13 O'Loughlin
S 11 J.Tomkins (daft penalties wearing thin)
S 17 Clubb
S 19 Powell
S 28 Sutton

I would start with Crosby before Mossop even though it may not be a great improvement, at least Crosby can look a bit angry from time to time, Mossop on the other hand has become so robotic that he seems completely uninterested .
Also you have left Patrick out, he is a cast iron certainty to be in the squad, remember it was Wane who brought him into the club and Wane will not be seen to be losing face by leaving out one of his picks.

Smith moves to 9 when Powell goes off. Hampshire given free reign to try and expose tired defenders from scrum half.

| MM is seeing a specialist according to the League Express so that doesn't sound good at all.
It won't happen but if he's out (and assuming Gelling just had cramp) I'd go-
Bowen
Manfredi
Bateman
Gelling
Burgess
Hampshire
Williams
Flower
Smith
Clubb
Tomkins
Farrell
Lockers
Subs
Crosby
Sutton
Tautai
Powell

| Agree with NK on his selection.
Smith to 9 with Hampshire and Williams as halves.
Again going with 5 props to overpower the Wire pack when they tire.
Wire's pace has dropped off this past year or so, with Hampshire in and Burgess back there is speed there that Wire will find difficult if not impossible to cope with.
I think there are two chances Waney will pick that 17, fat chance and no chance!

| Yet it's a team he could stumble upon and it could save his job IMO. If Wigan don't at least make the Grand Final this year he starts to come under pressure IMO.
A halfback combination of Hampshire and Williams will trouble anybody. They're young and they may make the odd error but Wire wouldn't like facing them and will be much happier with Smith in the halves and Powell at hooker.

| NK's team is spot on although if there was a credible alternative I'd drop Joel - he's been dreadful for weeks.

I hope it's not true,But it Just shows how cruel RL can be when players can get injured by something so innocuous as a poke in the eye,and by a fellow player too

It has been said today more than once that they think a certain team (in their opinion ) would be best for the match against the Wolfs, but in each case it has been qualified by statements such as "we know it isn't going to happen" or " fat chance or no chance".
But we all know it isn't such a generalisation as that, what we are talking about is a coach who his going out of his way by trying to supress a young player from playing in his natural position so that he can justify his stance that he is always right.
But it is about time that the "fence sitters" came out with their opinion, because I feel that the "club men" on here will always take the company line.

I believe that Burgess is several weeks away from a return.
Like your idea but not a cat in hell's chance that SW will play Hampshire or drop Patrick.

| The question I have if wane did play Hampshire and Williams is who would take Smiths kicking duties. Williams has a great short game, I've not seen Hampshire kick in play ? Is it part of his game?
Wane has shown he will change his opinion in the past. Williams at 6, 9, and back to 6 for example, so not sure that's a reason he doesn't pick Hampshire.

| What is the obsession with Hampshire? Putting him in the halves with Williams in place of Smith would be crazy, who would organise out of those two?

Well seeing they've played together for years at junior level I reckon they could sort something out between them.

If Mickey Mac doesn't play then I would expect Powell to play #9 with Hampshire to be on the bench. Then during the game Hampshire to #6 and Williams to #9.
