| I know I am starting to sound like a broken record but tonight showed just how influential and important they are, despite what Wane and some fans think about our revolutionary style.
Until Clubb and the outstanding Tautai came on Mossop and Crosby were getting smashed all over, we were on the backfoot and looked destined for another flat lethargic loss.
Clubb came on and started to dominate, Tautai came on, came up with an error but then played like I always hoped he could for Wigan. Outstanding go forward big defence energy intensity and genuine impact, comfortably MOTM for me even though he did t register big minutes.
Clubb and Tautai went off Crosby and Patrick come back on and Hudds get a foothold back in the match, a breakaway try off a Hudds mistake probably wins the game for us and to be fair Mossop had a good final spell.
It is however not rocket science or coincidence that when our Props go forward we are a significantly more organised higher quality side.
On tonight's performance a player I used to rate highly I think will struggle to make an impact at Wigan going forward in Crosby and Mossop really needs to lift it. Patrick needs to go.
Hopefully Tautai will now kick on and show the fans how good he can be.

| Tautai needs to straighten up his running and be more direct for me.
His leg drive in the tackle is superb, but i feel he could be smarter leading up to impact. Whilst i am not against big blokes with good footwork, i much prefer to see big bloke run hard and fast into the collision.
Mossop is a shadow of the player he was 4 years ago. I used to rave to fellow fans that i had never seen him driven back in the tackle. Nowadays its the rule and not the the exception so see him put on his backside.
Tony Clubb is the best Prop at the club at the moment.

| Tautai recovered very well from two errors in his first two touches (he was totally switched off for that first ball from Lockers). He always runs the ball well but he needs to get rid of those dozy errors.
I said yesterday that with the right props around him and some fitness work I believe he can turn round an up and down start to his Wigan career.

| Mossops first spell was poor but his second spell pretty good I thought.
Clubb and Flower would be my starters going forward with Tautai and Mossop from the bench.

| Must have watched a different game - I thought Mossop was better tonight. I didn't particularly notice Clubb and I thought Tautai was OK nothing more.

Watch the game again. The minute we rotate Props the game changes.

| Plenty of aggression in Clubb and Tautai, think we need to spell those alongside workhorses like Mossop and Flower and let them get on with their work.

| Tautai is improving, but we've had plenty better than him, even if he continues to improve a little more. In a better pack I don't think anyone would be talking him up.

| I agree with Jonh. I am sure the errors Tauati made will be mentioned but the first wasn't all his fault as the pass from Lockers was poor. Him and Clubb took the game to Hudds whereas I felt Mossop and Cosby lacked aggression.
Where was Flower? If not injured one of Cosby or Mossop has to make way next week. Not sure which one. Mossop had a better second spell but I think he's not very consistent.

Agreed, and Paul Anderson conceded exactly that point in his post-match analysis, saying that our bench was beter than theirs (I'd include Powell in that, too, who I thought had a pretty good game.)

To be fair to the starting props they were on the field when we conceded those four penalties in a row, giving us little or no ball.

| I would like to see the minutes played for the props last night they did seem to share the workload, Clubb seemed to have been on longer than he has been since his injury. Tautai played with more control apart from one own half offload which did come off. Patrick looked eager. I hope its a sign of things to come, add Flower and Bateman to the pack and it will improve.

| Patrick has to go. I don't understand how he gets picked every week. IIRC he hasn't been dropped this season, if he's been fit he's played. Best dummy runner in the league!

I think those penalties were as a direct result of the Giants dominance up front where we were having to scrap and fight to try to stop their roll on.

To be fair to Wigan, one was due to excessive enthusiasm to defend aggressively (caught offside) and one was a poor decision as it was a dropped ball by Huddersfield (I know that for a fact as I couldn't have had a better angle from where I was sitting).

| Mossop is awful and really needs to grow a pair. We desperately need a prop. Flower, Clubb and Tautai do a pretty decent job and at least show some fire. Crosby isnt fulfilling his potential and only look decent in the final quarter when the Huddersfield were tired. In the opening exchanges we were dominated and as Jon rightly says the instant the interchange occurred momentum changed. Id drop Mossop for Leeds next week as they will have a field day. We need aggression from the off. Id start with Flower and Clubb with Tautai and Crosby off the bench. Going slightly off topic I also think its paramount with have Bateman lined up against Watkins at centre to nullify his threat.

| Flower is injured isn't he?
I've said for a while now how poor Crosby has been this season, he should've been dropped for Sutton a long time ago but for some reason Sutton seems to have been turned into a replacement 13.

| I cant understand how Patrick gets the nod for a bench spot over Sutton seen as he can play back row as well as prop and he is aggressive which we are missing are certain periods of the game when certain players leave the field

Wane obviously likes Patrick as a utility man.
I still can't get over the fact that the bloke that used to cause us all sorts of problems at Huddersfield is a waste of space for Wigan.

Players have shone against Wigan and then proved to be not quite up to it has happened before at Wigan, read Dennis Moran to name but one.
Maybe the reason Wane picks Patrick over Sutton is because he is nursing Sutton (who by the way is still very young) and due to his aggression Wane is reining him in a bit. Or the other answer is Patrick gets the pick all the time because he maybe came to Wigan on Wanes recommendation, then not to be seen to be losing face comes into it.
Of the other starting props on Thursday I thought Crosby went better than Mossop, with Crosby at least I can see signs of aggression whereas Mossop just seems to be so robotic, he runs it in and that is it. Mossop never seems to get involved in a bit of push and shove at the tackle which even though never providing much threat at least Crosby tries to show a bit of fire.
But the most disappointing forward to me is Joel, fans rave about him saying that he is back to his best but I do not agree with that assessment.
Joel is a running second row, by that I mean he needs someone to put him through a gap and then he can really stride away and since he came back that hasn't happened .
In the past he had Tommy Leu and Sam who could put him through and he scored a lot of trys, I would like to see his try scoring stats since he came back to League. On the other side we have Liam Farrell who had Green and now Williams putting him away as well has having such quick feet he can make his own breaks, hence at times Liam seems to do double the yardage that Joel does.
This observation are only my opinion , but I think our attack is so out of balance when we look at options on the right as compared to the left.

| On current form Tomkins isn't good enough. He should stop mouthing and get doing.
Mossop is next to useless and I find him embarrassing as a Wigan player. He doesn't even huff and puff let alone blow the house down.
Tautai is the worst ball handler I have ever seen but at least he looks to to take the ball in 2 out of 6 times per set. Mossop looks to avoid the ball 6 out of 6 per set.
Our best prop is Sarginson. Makes more yards than Mossop Crosby Flower put together per match.
Our props just are non existent. We need 4 new ones.
Clubb has a great work ethic but he is a pumped up centre who needs gas and air after making a couple of tackles.

| Good lord, the hyperbole is strong here!
Our pack can certainly improve, but our home record suggests we can take anyone when we bring our A game.
Would drop Crosby for Flower next week assuming he's fit. Routed for him but he's not been up to the standards he's set this season.
