We haven't used any of the extra cap space so we don't really need to give any credit to Ian Lenegan.

Read somewhere that they weren't spending the full cap so this is wrong. Pryce, Eastmond and Graham have gone, that must be a fair wedge gone, even last season we managed to give tomkins a new deal so doubt they need to give IL credit

Chuffed for Saints that they've signed him up. It at least wards RU off to some degree. I presume he'll be playing scrumhalf alongside calamity Jane next year.

Shame that Gaskell's progress in the first team will take a step back next year. God knows the number of times Saints fans have had a go at us for signing over the hill antipodeans at the expense of a youngster.

Pains me to say it, but I'd much sooner have Lee Gaskell in my side than Lance Hohaia.

I think Hohaia will either play FB, LF or rotate with Roby.

Gaskell is a young player that has been standout talent from when I first saw him in the Saints academy sides. He has been on the wrong side of many defeats v Wigan in those games, but always looked the player most likely to do damage to us. He suffered in reality because at times he got played all over the place, fullback, centre, stand off and scrum half.

The best compliment I can pay him is that he reminded me very much of Sam Tomkins when he first began his Wigan career in the academy.

I know we were looking to bring Wheeler to Wigan but this lad would be far better acquisition.

I dont see were all this saints bashing has come from, ok we hate the scousers but there track record with youngsters is exemplary, theyve lost a fair bit of experience this year and you cant knock them for signing a kiwi, we still have 7 overseas players (think saints have 6)

Saints have seven, Meli, Soliola, Hohaia, Perry, Laffranchi, Flannery and Puletua, and five of them are over 30 years of age.

Wigan have offered to buy gaskell contract out but saints have told them they is no chance and have increased gaskell wages on is current deal
