Back on subject I can see the basis of what the RFL are trying to do. They have got it into there heads if it worked for New Zealand it would work for us but sadly Cummings has not had the type of teaching skills of one of the best coaches around like Kearney has had.

I would have quite happily said in this scenario, "are you mad?". There's no way that Rad's should be any national team coach now, if he goes on to coach and have a proven track record then maybe but right now it would be out of the question for the same reasons I would question "Franny", although he has more coaching behind him.

I heard Gary Schofield on the radio the other week saying he and Ellery should do for a more old school approach, and i thought it couldnt get any worse, well how wrong was I!

And if they were to offer it too rads i would say the same thing stupid idea, but then again this is the RFL!

Nobody wants the job now its FT, coaches would rather stay at a Super League club than coach the national team 4 or 5 times a year. And I think there is less of an appeal coaching 'England' rather than 'Great Britain'

It just shows how short we are of quality English coaches.
Cummins isn't anyone's choice, mine neither.
So who is there then?
With the Kiwis they had a former national player and captain plus the best coach in the world working with the squad.
How can we get near that?
The Aussies had Tim Sheens, the most experienced NRL coach with over 500 NRL games in which he has been in charge. We haven't got anyone close to him either. If Sheens hadn't done it then they'd have perhaps gone for Meninga or Bellamy.
We are light years away from those guys too.
So instead of bagging the RFL lets have some nominations for coaching England.

John Kear - First and foremost as national coach you need to be a good motivator and gel the players

If we were GB and I wish we were he would snap the RFLs hand off but as it is only England who he has coached before I doubt he wants the job.

I would seriously consider Andy Farrell as an Assistant.

He's already said he doesn't want the job.

With Nigel Wood in charge, its easy to understand why there isnt a queue beating the door down!

Problem is, England job is not really any bigger than being a super league coach anymore.

The international game has suffered greatly in so many ways, this is part of the domino effect. The game at international level is finished really. Does anyone really see a way back to getting over 60,000 at Wembely or Old Trafford?

No one wants the job because the job is not big enough, the job is not big enough because international RL is not big anymore.

Personally I would get some more ex players involved, Farrell would of been great but he is not daft enough to come back to RL yet.
