What a ledgend!

The guy was a beast but probably the nicest person to pull on a Wigan shirt.

I will forever remember the try he scored against Saints on boxing day 1994. Classic barnstorming try!!

How many were there for his debut at Widnes? Bloody cold wednesday evening, Inga came on in the 2nd half, looked about two stone overweight and waaaayyy of the pace. I remember after 10 minutes he was huffing and puffing about with his hands on his knees.

From that to the pique of fitness he was when he stormed through about 4 Aussie defenders at a packed Central Park.

Awesome and a great credit to him for knuckling down, a true winner (on and off the field)!!

Inga is an honorary Wiganer and there is no greater honour in life.

I had the privilege of training in a gym alongside Shaun Edwards a few times when he moved to London.

I was struck by his slim build and particularly his girly little calf muscles....but he was immense in the effort he put in and the amount of metal he could shift; a genuinely scary individual in his intensity.

This is the sort of book the club should have on it's website! If it's not available anywhere else I'm sure it would be an Xmas big seller!

However, it is one thing to be a part of a team but quite another thing to contribute to it as well. A team full of champions is no promise of a champion team. In most sports you always have your prima donnas. At Wigan, individuals had to learn to let go of their egos for the team to succeed.

I was there with my dad. Standing behind the post in the open rain. He looked off the pace as he ran on. It was a try scoring debut wasnt it?

He did score yeah. Barged through under the sticks IIRC.

I was there but his try was a double movement he went about 2 yards short but the ref proberbly was to frightend to disallow it

To the left of the posts at the tunnel end - my only clear memory of the match other than that was the sheer size of his shorts when he ran on and everyone laughing at his ar$e the size of a barn door! It was often quoted over the next couple of years that his fitness regime and weightlifting programme had caused him to lose 6 inches off his waist but stay the same weight. What a beast.

One of my favourite players Inga, always entertaining to watch. There was one player in particular that he knocked senseless everytime he played him. I think it was Marvin Golden and he played centre for leeds? Only a fairly young lad i think but he seemed to get absolutely banjoed every time they faced each other. Also remember seeing him stood outside of central park wearing a full length leather duster type jacket, it was like looking at a brick wearing a coat.

Must admit that crossed my mind. Imagine a 'white' player saying he had never experienced such pain from a black kid.

Marvin Golden once tried to do a diving ackle on Martin Offiah as he was tearing down the wing at Central Park. Ended up diving head first into the advertising hoardings.
