Given that he has now commented on his desire to return to Wigan either as coach or assistant (League Express) coach what are your views?

Personally although i would like to see Lam back at Wigan im not convinced he is the right man to take the head coaches job although i do feel a change is needed. Perhaps its a lack of expierience but i would like to see somebody who has previousley had a head coaches job in the NRL and been reasnabley succesful.

Opinions?

He did well with PNG, didn't he coach our academy at one time too? Plus he's a bit too old to have played with any of the current team yet he's young enough to be relevant to the modern game. I think it could work, I like the American football style of coaching though, we could have Noble as head coach, Lam as attacking coach and Wayne as defensive coach. Do coaches count on the salary cap?

Great player doesnt always mean a good coach !!

Denis Moran was not a bad player. He was just a player with the wrong type of game play in the wrong team at the wrong time.

If you had put Denis Moran outside of Micheal Dobson you would see a different player.

The problem was the coach, not the player.

i like nathan brown at hudds , young enthusiastic ,shows emotion when he s not happy dose nt make excuses up for player when not playing so good if Lam could be the same type of coach i would be happy

Wrong. Millward wanted to get rid but Mo prevented him from doing so. The real problem was Faz leaving, which meant Moran had to change from finisher to playmaker.

Noble needs replacing but I don't think Lam is the answer.

I would like to see Lam return to Wigan along with some other past players as part of a team but maybe not as head coach.

Like most on here I would prrefer McGuire to Lam.
McGuire from a successful club and assistant to the best young coach in the NRL. Stands in for him when Bellamy's on Origin duty.
Lam from a club that's fallen apart on the field as well as off it.
Which would you prefer as head coach at Wigan?

Lam said he'd be happy with an assistant coaching role. I'd be happy with Lam as assistant coach but not overly convinced of his credentials to come straight in as head coach.

Is Mcguire assistant at Melbourne at present?

On a side note the current Newcastle coach is also on his way out by the sounds of things.

Brian Smith is taking over at the Roosters.

We keep getting linked with David Fairleigh too. He's currently assistant at Parra.

That may be true but personally I would rather he stayed at KR, he's doing a great job there and I would hope we went the way of an NRL coach. I don't know if your a KR fan Corky Butcher but out of interest are the rumors true that Morgan is somewhat of a bighead and has upset some of his own management team?

to be honest mate i am an FC fan so not really qualified to speak on Mr Morgan as it would appear bias,but on the positive i would say he has done good work in a short time at KR,both FC and KR fans are speculating on him and the wigan job not sure if there is any truth in it but any good coach will be in the frame when jobs are available and though it pains me to say it his record speaks for itself...

I hate to say it but I think Lam would be a disaster at Wigan as a coach. We desperately need an experienced coach to turn things around at Wigan, and by that I mean a NRL coach - Lammy just doesn't have that and his CV has hardly been helped by his stint at the Roosters. If he was that good he'd be a shoe-in for the Roosters job next season, given how house they've been this season.

If the rumours are true Lenagan has dropped a big bollox by going for a previous player, which will appease some fans but is again the cheap and wrong option.

I think thats the big issue really.


If Lenagan can get a coach that over 50% of the fans will be happy with for a decent price i think he'll go for it wheather it's the best thing for the club or not.
