| It's probably been asked before but after another storming preformence would you keep him on?
If it were on a 12month deal to keep him on his toes i'd say yes persoanlly. He's looking a real handful at the moment with his running, offloads and his aggresive defence.
If we were to release Bailey and sign a new prop with his money we could maybe do a Saints/Catalans and play with 5 props with him in the backrow on occasion.
It's be a shame to let him go and watch him play like this for another club.

| they had one of his former coaches on radio manchester about a month ago who was saying he really felt for coley and all the stick he was getting. he said that using coley as a stright up the middle prop was a waste of time and that coley did most damage running wide.
to be honest i wouldn't be going all out to sign him up. do we have the lads to come through and replace him or would we have to go out and sign a replacement?

| If it means we missed out on a Prop target such as Bailey then no, if we could recruit a top Prop and retain him, maybe, still annoyed it is contract time and he starts to play.

If he goes we'll sign a replacement without doubt but what i'd prefare is to let Coley replace Bailey in squad terms(not position all of the time) and then get a new prop to take his place.
Play with 5 big lads in the 17, win the forward battle and let Ainscough, Gleeson, Richards, Tomkins and co rack up the points.

| Sign him on a 12 month contract with an option of another year (for the club).
Then send one of prescott/o'carrol out on loan and use Mossop as backup 2nd row/prop type player in case of injuries.
He's suprised me, I was his biggest critic last season, turned it completely around it seems.

| Nah i wouldnt keep him.
He's finding form now yeah its no coincidence contract time is up.
Quite frustrating really, after the Salford game im not doubting that hes been playing really well but for 2 years before that hes been nothing but down right lazy. I want a good decent honest prop who will put the work in week in week out and with Bailey and his Wages we could probably get 2!

It's always the same here at Wigan isn't it which is frustrating.
The only way i can think of turning that round is by using it as a positive to us and signing the guy on a 12 month deal to make him keep earning a new deal.

| Absolutely not!
Three decent to good games is hardly worth a new contract. If we re-sign him I know this club has zero ambition.

For short bursts yes but in the main he'd just be playing as an extra prop and it would allow him to play his natural wide running game.

Ah I'm with you. Probably. If you believe some of the Salford fans, he was the same before getting that contract with us, then couldn't be d again.

Would a 12month deal not automatically solve that problem though?
If you can find a way of keeping his current form up he's a huge asset.

I doubt it. Coley isn't a prop for me, especially one if you want to be competing for trophies.

| Coley proved today why we signed him . I thought he dominated the wakey forwards with some good hits and took some good forward drives

| So basically Coley offers next to nothing since his arrival at the club, he had a few good games and now people are talking about giving him another contract?
Is this all it takes thesedays to be a 'Wigan RL' player? It's a disgrace.

Next to nothing is very harsh especially considering how his salary would compare with say Stuart Fielden or Feka.
Coley had a number of good games last season when Fielden offered nothing at all and Feka's game time was limited.
Im not suggesting Coley is a top quality player but in a poor pack of forwards he is not as bad as some suggest.

could not agree more.
credit where credits due, he has played very well of late, however to even consider giving him a new contract is laughable.
by and large a very dissapoining signing.

| To be fair to him, I think his form is more to do with him being dropped for a couple of games rather than his contract up for renewal. He's probably not on a big salary anyway.

I agree with you that he is probably not on a big salary.
The problem for me (and im not just talking about Coley) is that our forwards dont seem to intimidate the opposition.
Its interesting to read Andrew Johns' comments about players he was scared off during his playing days, one Quentin Pongia was right up there. How we need a player like him.

| I'd give him another year deal with an option for the second for both player and team.
He is playing well so he can earn a new 2/3 year but when he gets it his performances will probably drop.
I think he is playing better has well because he is starting the game instead of coming off the bench-plus you then are comparing him to Fielden
