to be fair I first saw that until i realised they were members of gardiners family. there are a lot of super league fans in cumbria - saw a few leeds shirts as well. And I know a lot of wigan fans come from that areas as well.

It was strange at times.

Whenever Barrow scored you'd see people with Wigan jersey's on bouncing up and down and cheering.

It just goes to show how badly they need a Super League side up there.

Sure does, the attendence between the games above are alarming. I am all for expansion of the game, but the game is NEVER going to work in London.

People walking around in the ground at Barrow v Wigan with St Hel*ns tops on just absolutely baffles me.... if i live to 150 il never understand why folk would do that, but hey, maybe thats just me

Most were related to Gardener as he comes from there

They claim they brought 400 to our place so I highly doubt they would get anymore than that down to London

Why do they play on Saturday afternoons for god's sake? How many other things are on in London at that time? Dreadful crowds that only seem to go down, not up every year. They could learn a trick off Catalans or even Celtic.

That is a shocking stat for quins but its the biggest game in the clubs history for years and hudd at home is not an eyecatching fixture but I see what your saying.

Widnes and Leight would get much bigger crowds than quins in super league as well.

I think the last time widnes were in SL they must av averaged more than quins and if leigh were in SL this year in thier stadium they would get around 5000 and benefit from havin salford, wire saints and wiganon thier doorstep.

Us, saints and wire would take 3000 or more every game and maybe even get sell outs for games against Wigan.

I said it all along. No to Celtic then have the balls to drop a Yorkshire team. Put in Salford, Widnes and Leigh and we would have a series of 5 derby matches for each club, all generating much more income than the current setup. Total no brainer IMO.

If fans ran this game we would have a world class product and a commerical team 2nd to none and better understanding than the RFL if you think back to when mr lewis was appointed top boss at the RFL he had never been to a game of RL says it all really.

I guess it's good, on one hand, from a Wigan perspective though with fans dotted all over the show. Barrow being an example.

I've been to Knowlsey Road watching Saints v Leeds a few times and Saints v Bradford. Never when Wigan have played at the same time though.

I would imagine it was people who live local to Barrow who couldn't get to Leeds.

Every time we play Bradford away I seem to see someone in the ground in a Wigan shirt even if you are playing at the same time!

The games crying out for a SL team in Cumbria. Its a hot bed of amateur RL up there and as other posters have said a team from Cumbria would get massive more support than one from London. The attendance at Harlequins was pathetic.

I cannot imagine a combined Cumbrian team coming into the competition due to logistics and personal rivalries beween the three clubs in Cumbria. The best chance of SL in a way would be if one of the clubs such as Barrow applied individually and was accepted but there's lots of work for them to do yet.
