On the assumption that Fergie will get the coach award, do Wigan have a chance of the team of the year award at the Sports Personality of the Year Award ?

None of the major sports have had a team so dominant, and with Sam's profile getting good media attention and the RLWC having just finished, most of the sporting community will know who we are.

For winning 2 of the 3 available trophies? Don't be silly... Wigan as a town may get a mention, but don't go expecting owt else!!

apart from Sky Cycling Team (who have thrown oodles of cash at their sport and also had major funding from UK Sport via the Olympic cycling support), I cant think of any other real contenders.
The Lions beating a poor Aussie team would be a travesty if they were named, or the Welsh RU team who cant beat any one from the Southern Hemisphere.

Ok, call me "Mr Cynical", but much as i love the BBC, RL is hardly on the fricking radar... I would be astounded if we won anything... Unlike some posters on the board, i am always happy to be proved wrong..

If a Lions team wins a series they do tend to get the vote. On a sporting scale though, their efforts are definitely not that special. Team Sky and Wigan have better pedigree from that persepective.

You can't just create a made up team in order to win an award. For most fans, the two clubs can't stand each other. To then join together in order to win an award would be very desperate.

its a fanciful idea. leicester did something slightly more remarkable a few years ago and held major trophies in cricket, rugby and football at the same time.

You could put a joint bid in with St Helens town for it! You won 5th place in superleague, got some new cladding and St Helens town came 19th in the Tommy Browns butchers 15th division whilst breaking their transfer record of 21p.
