Anyone know when some of the players are due back?

I know Tomkins is May, but Williams and Gelling would be a massive boost to have back sooner rather than later.

I asked the same question a few weeks back and got shot down. Ive reported a few mods on this particular forum to the Admin staff.

Anyway, Ive never known as much secrecy from the club surrounding injured players. Last we heard on Williams was he pulled up in the warm up a month ago and was taken out for a precaution. He's not been heard of since. S Tomkins is a mystery. Whenever he's asked he is always two months away. Ive a feeling we will get to September and he'll still be two months away. Hope he comes back to his best but the way this injury is going ive a feeling he will be the next Jonny Lomax.

When in the past was he asked and he said 2 months?
When recently as he said again 2months?

He was interviewed on sky in JANUARY and he said May.
You were told this on the last thread yet you continue to spout nonsense with no evidence.
As for speculating about him becoming the next jonny lomax then I'll consign that statement to the rubbish bin like most of the others.
He's had one op, he's given a date when he'll be back, what evidence do you have for this being a longer term issue?

Gelling was in south stand bar on Friday and said 3 weeks after being assessed mid week.

In the lead up to the match on Friday on Sky I thought I heard Wiggy say Sam was about a couple of months away, it was about 7-45 when I [uthought[/u I heard him say it.
May is only 4 weeks away and there have been no reports or sightings of Sam any where near a pitch.

Couple of points
1 Do you really listen to anything Wiggy or any of the sky muppets say?

2 beginning of may is 4 weeks away, end of may is 8/9 weeks away.

Wane said Bateman, Flower and possibly Crosby are back for Wakey but no mention of the others. The big one for me is Williams. We need him back ASAP because Smith is sinking on his own and with Lockers potentially being out we'll be looking at a halfback pairing of Gregson and Smith.

Williams isn't responding to treatment as expected and the club are a bit worried he will need a major operation which could rule him out for a long part of the season if not the full season.

Tomkins wont be rushed, I think it will be mid-late May before he returns. No point rushing him and he breaks down. Just get him right for the business end

If Williams is going to be out for a extended period and Lockers is also out, I don't understand why we don't recall Hampshire, if only temporarily? Seem strange that Wane is even contemplating playing a rookie back rower at stand off.

And if it was not for injuries Gregson would not even be the fifth choice as starting stand off, but he is. Having said that he looked dangerous for twenty minutes, when O'loughlin went off, until we ran out of steam and he cannot be blamed for that. If anybody is sad enough to care Gregson would have been behind Williams, Powell, Hampshire, O'loughlin, Shorrocks (is there any news on his injury?) , as starting stand off. He is not a big lad for a second row and in some ways resembles Powell. I would not be surprised if he ended up hooking.

So if Gregson is behind Hampshire, why don't we bring Hampshire back? You never know, it could work! But if not, what have we lost?

Because he's implicated in a swap deal with Justin Carney for 2017.

Even if he was, and I don't think he is it wouldn't matter anyway as the Carney deal would be for next year, and both players are "on loan" for this. Hampshire played fullback yesterday, so where does he fit in Darryl Powells plans?

This just gets better! Plays fullback for his loan club but wouldn't play fullback for his parent club? Unbelievable! However, I'd still bring him back given our injury situation at the moment, regardless of what may or may not happen in 2017.

Shorrocks should be close to fitness by now, going off the original statement, which had him out till March.

I doubt Wane will get Hampshire back but he should IMO. If George Williams isn't going to be right for a while yet and with Lckers obviously having a couple of niggles Wane can't afford to be stubborn. You sense he's not been impressed with Hampshires attitude but the lad is a cracking young player and now would seem the perfect opportunity to give him the shot he wants.

If we play Cas next week with no stand off and him turning out for them you have to wonder what we're playing at.

Totally agree NK, Wane has got to do what is best for the club. If that means bringing Hampshire back in the short term, (and on the face of it, it is) so be it. If Wanes stubbornness and pig headedness loses us points IL should step in and sort it.

May or June I believe.

Wane has told the Wigan Evening post that after stating he expected Flower and Bateman back this week, it's now looking like none of the 7 from Friday will be back with Lockers also ruled out and Faz likely to be banned.

If Hampshire isn't recalled on the back of that news it's safe to assume his extended deal is just a bargaining chip for him going elsewhere for 2017.
