Quote ="Cruncher"The very fact that people are debating whether or not an RL player should be allowed to do another job as well shows just how much we've been brainwashed by this 'Salary Cap is God' crap.'"
Well said. I have been banging on for years that it was utterly stupid just about every penny a player could earn besides from playing was counted on the cap.
From day one when all the sport went full time I have been saying if you want a full time pro sport you have to pay the wages for it. That doesn't mean clubs going bankrupt paying wages they can't afford but letting sponsorship or outside earnings supplement the top players wages.
I wonder what Bradford will think of this mind? If I recall correctly they fell foul of the salary cap because the company that sponsored Harris took and add or something in the program (something trivial anyway) so this company was deemed to be associated to the club so any payments had to coun t on the cap.
Unless Sam is doing this for free then surely that kind of restriction is out of the window?
Quote Not one of the rest of us us would hesitate to up our earnings if we were offered another job on the side, if we could fit it in easily. In no other walk of life would it be an issue.

I have my full time day job in computing and I work for the OU as a tutor part time. My employer has no problem with it. In fact they think its a good thing. I don't do it for the money mind you as the pay is rubbish but the principle is the same.
