I would assume that the rules are null and void in the prem nowadays as even though most some teams keep a kit and change it to their third kit, most change each year, some teams, for example chelsea and fulham have both had 3 kits each for the past two years and they have both been updated this season, no sign of any of last years shirts. But as someone already pointed out, you do not have to buy it just because the club release it. I love buying my warrington and united shirts and tend to set aside money for when they come out so i can buy the new releases, then if i decided i dont like the kit i have some money to treat the mrs or myself with. win/win i suppose.

But then whats the point in having an away kit if its going to be worn at most 2 or 3 times in a season?
Just to be awkward, it think that the kits are termed main and alternative by the powers that be. The RFL determine which kits are worn, and it is published on the site, along with the edge kit.
And I hope we return to the cherry and white we are famous for.
