Well it's certainly not second to promoting second rate towns that are simply too small to develop the game, and instead rely on romantic disillusions of yesteryear when a man could work "down't pit and still play 80 mins, and I tell thee what, he was better than 90% of this lot today" (no he wasn't).
Do you remember in the old days when winning the league was the biggie.....and the Premiership was the end of season irrelevence? until SL, when other clubs - particularly Saints, started winning it - and it then became dismissed as 'the old hub-cap'??
You play the cards that you are dealt. That is a silly comparison. At the start of the year everyone knows that it's the GF that decides the champions and the League Leaders shield is largley irrelevant.
It looks like Wigan are favourites to win the LL shield this year. My stance (and that of the majority on here) is unchanged.
