Michael Maguire plans to use cutting-edge satellite technology to help get the most out of his players next season.
Warriors' new coach aims to introduce a GPS system that will track how far players run during training – and in matches.
Players will wear tiny, special sensors underneath their kit, allowing Maguire and his coaching staff to monitor their heart-rates – and how quickly they recover from collisions – as well as hydration.
Chairman Ian Lenagan said: "It's the sort of technology that, as a club, we want to be at the forefront of.
"It's like in Formula One. They monitor the cars – we'll be monitoring players instead."'"
Prepare for a pretty geeky post... I doubt the validity of this system. GPS is in best cases only accurate to around 5 metres and that is with top end gear. In an embedded device the size of what would be needed I'd envisage the accuracy being more towards the ~20 metre mark.
Would love to see the specs of this thing, you could do some pretty cool stuff with the data that is collected.
