Quote="pie eater and proud of it"Bilko, dont get too downhearted, as ever an excellent write up.
To highlight one point you mentioned that gave me a laugh, you are saying that the euphoric feeling goes when 'life' kicks in and you start having work and family commitments... welcome to my world pal
I been there for donkeys years......'"
Oh I'm not talking about myself. At the moment I'm not doing either lol.
This is a great post M Bilko and I agree with Cruncher, I was lucky to see the late 80's onwards and it was a privilege to watch those teams. Even though they were great players they were never allowed to get out of step.
I remember John Monie taking off Steve Hampson after about 10 minutes because he thought he was messing around. This attitude kept their minds on the job but they had pride in their performance the present lot do not convince me that they care that much.
If the players showed as much passion as your posts we would be happy but frankly most of them are a disgrace to the shirt, club and fans. We have watched drivel for the last 4/5 seasons or more but had some excitment on the way, what we are seeing now is exactly as Bilko says in my opinion total rubbish by a team I do not want to call Wigan. This is a sorry state of affairs.
I agree with Cruncher we need a new coach because "not just to have a change" that would be futile but to get in somebody who WILL make the team play to a pattern and more than anything else PUT IN THE EFFORT. I think in any walk of life it is down to effort more than ability to achieve. If you have the 2 together as with the old Wigan team you become unstoppable. We all know that the effort is not there each and every week perhaps at best 1 in 4, I think 1in 6/7 and I am sick to death of they have trained well, so what.
The players must realise that to "Play for Wigan" is one of the biggest honours that a RL player can have, they I believe do not care enough and as such should be cleared out ASAP.
My first live game was WiganvWakefield at Wembley 1963 so I have seen the ups and downs. I even came off the JJB on Thursday after losing to that other team not feeling to despondent for the first time in ages and then Monday comes? Bilko that is a first class summary and the work you put in must be appreciated by a large number of Wigan fans, so on behalf of myself and a "ponfull" of Wiganers many thanks.
