I read somewhere, not sure where, that Cake plans next week to sign Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGree, Cuthbert, Dibble & Grub. Apparently there were on fire in training.

| I looked at that squad again- we’ve got Ball, Ball , Hall and…….. Small!

Nope we’re only signing Skolars players that rhyme. Massive get out of jail card that Latu doesn’t rhyme with much.

Thinking about it further I think the key is they all have short surnames. Remember at a pound a letter that £10k will only go so far for printing names on shirts and we have a couple of guys with long double barrelled names that have blown the budget.

By comparison, Gary Henley-Smith is affordable.

| An upbeat and measured update from Eccles on the Broncos You Tube channel which confirms something is happening with the club, that someone with some pedigree is being announced as signing on Monday and that they are actively looking players which for a time they weren’t. Looks like he will want to use the Cup match to look at some of the trialists so if those announced for the Crusaders game are trialists rather than open trialists this will be an opportunity to see how they would go against decent L1 opposition.

| I think the club could have been finished without Mike Eccles. The club are lucky to have him as I suspect he could have easily moved on. A very positive but realistic update on where we are.

I seem to recall in the past, Hetherington has done more than his fair share to screw London, but he knows how to run a club which is what we need.

Has he ? I thought he’d been broadly supportive.

There were a couple of things that he could have been supportive of Broncos but chose not to be. Sadly my poor old brain is struggling to dig them out of a dark recess. Maybe Orangeman or somebody else can remember.

| A lot to unpack the last few days.
It's a shame that the North Wales game didn't go ahead. Goole will be tough anyway, going in cold makes it that bit tougher. If the team named was an indication of the team for the start of the season, it's just about not getting cut adrift.
On the takeover, it sounds as though it's happening from what Eccles said. Both Hetherington and the Brisbane Broncos sounds attractive propositions.

I think this is very positive news especially through the context of the state of the side we were to put out against Crusaders: as Moe says it was looking like a season of merely avoiding being cut adrift.
I agree with you though that the only cloud on the horizon is if they dip their toe in then do one leaving us pretty much done. But, to be fair, that was kind of the position the unceremonious departure of Mr H left us so we’re no worse off. Let’s hope this is the start of some good things, the path to that is clearly there we’ll just have to see what happens. If it all goes through Eccles has to take an enormous amount of credit for staying with the club and helping to navigate us through a really dicey period.

| ary Hetherington has experience of Rugby League in the south. He played for Kent Invicta in the season 1983/84.

| I have to say that the club was well run in those early years with Brisbane Broncos at the helm.
