Yes; an inspiration. Worked for Canberra.
Still no idea on the name though, other than London Somethings. (Wanderers or Rovers would be accurate but don't see them working. Though, come to think of it, now that HKR have become HKA, maybe we should become the new Rovers?)'"
If the club stay at The Stoop I think the West London Rangers would be a good name. Having said that the Thames Valley Titans is a great shout.

West London Rangers? Really?
Some of these names, that one in particular, remind me of the half time heroes that would get a run out at half time at Griffin Park.
They were normally 8-11 years old for those who aren't aware btw.

If we let these people win then it is the end of our club in London, it is pointless going into the championship Skolars and their 300 fans is no advertisement, though some northern legend name clubs get little more attending. '"
Please tell me you are not suggesting that loyal wonderful supporters of this game and this club in whatever guise have actually stopped attending matches because of messages posted on a message board? because if that is what you are suggesting the persecution complex has really taken over and you should seek medical advice at the soonest opportunity.

| I have written to the club just to make sure that rupe1 and his hoardes of stay aways arent the reason for this re-naming.
Seriously, to say Harlequins RL has failed without asking the neighbours over for a look-see would be insane IMO.

Here we go again! the simplest form of debate is attack and try to demean someone! how big! I never said that if you read again, anyway has Our Clubs Forum has ever more than say 100 regular contributors our of say 3,000? shows how it is a real reflection of opinion LOL!
I said the way some people here over the years have tried or attempted to bully has driven some fans away, it is so easy to be a bully when you do not know the person fully or have face to face contact.
Writing to the club by someone and telling them ignore some peoples opinions! well I will leave that to those who read to come to an opinion about! and the few always like to knock me! LOL! at least I have my own opinions and if I am wrong I am willing to admit it! I do not need numbers like the gang to back me up and my opinion is as relevans as anyone else's

| Late to the party, but ...
Quins RL at the Stoop, and if not at the Stoop, London something, not bothered what.
Broncos were hardly the most recognised team before we became Quins, so see no difference.

2. We stay at The Stoop.

4. Engage with the 2m or so people who live in the surrounding areas as prospective new customers.'"
I'm quite sure that would be the worst use of our money unless we are about to become the next Man City or Chelsea, and in that case I would welcome the outright purchase of the Stoop. A seven figure investment in facilities would be a welcome one, but it would almost certainly be at the cost of improving the playing staff without moving forwards off it, only improving our yearly outgoings on rent and transferring them to probably paying off interest.

We were known as the Fulham Bears in the 1980s so I put down London Bears as an option. It offers continuation from our birth in 1980, and is an animal that has existed in England, whereas the Bronco is synonymous with South Eastern USA and Mexico. It would allow us to tap into our former existence and have either a home or away kit in the red, black and white, then utilise the well liked Bronco colours of red, blue, yellow and white.
A Bear would also give us something ferocious and masculine as people that I work with have said a few of the names sounded like girls dance groups; London Blitz, London Lions, London Storm, etc whilst others have or have in the past been names for other sporting organisations. The London Bears to the best of my knowledge would not be a legal problem either, www.londonbears.co.uk hasn't even been taken by anyone.
The issues that I can see are that Buck and Dusty may have to have a sacrificed as Bears are wikiality.wikia.com/Bears Godless killing machines and the Chicago Bears may well put us in the same boat as the Broncos with regards to actually using the name on the shirt. Bears is a gay thing apparently, so that may diversify our crowds or lead to a few people turning up and being disappointed.
Bears have rugby league links with the North Sydney club, the NRL franchise bid from the Central Coast Bears and the Russian national team that we as a club played against in our renowned tour of 20 years ago.
London Bears, playing at the Stoop in Broncos red, blue, yellow and white and playing away in Fulham colours.

| I would be perfectly happy with the name "Bears". Also, it seems that you've got opinion from people not familiar with the game who think it's a good brand name....so if the majority of other "non-believers" have the same opinion, Bears would work for me.....Hey, we could save money and use the Quins RU mascot with a different shirt ;-p
I said on the survey, and I think its important, that the kit looks sylish...I'm happy for red, yellow and blue or black and white...heck orange and black...not too bothered....my main concern is that it looks good. If it does, people will buy it (some even who don't support the team) - much like people who buy NRL shirts or foregin RU or football shirts. That is money coming into the club and boy do we need it!!
The club also need to get a good design company to create the badge/logo and strip...this then needs to be surveyed by the fans so that we get the best possible product.
Then....then all we need to do is the simple task of getting a winning team (nice and easy - not!)

Before my time, but it would offer continuation, or at least a return, and that would be something to cling to when promoting the name, or any potential name. Gus Mackay, David Hughes, Rob Purdham, etc could trump the history there, and they don't have to cite the troubled times, or that it was a relatively short time that we were known as the Fulham Bears.
I think we could turn it into a sort of a strong powerful indentity rather than the outwardly camp clown that we have at the minute.

| Hell I'd risk the legal issue and have winnie the pooh and paddington bear handing out promo material at Waterloo and all the major train stations, trump Bears winter dormancy and our dormant times in the colder months of the year, hell get Bear Grylls in promoting his tv show and books, endless teddy bear and cubs jokes, (not a bad nickname for the academy teams), but it is something positive, forceful and an identity of our own, to make it our own again from 2012, and move on from the Harlequins.
(in a camp voice) 'We're the Harlequins!' Any player with a Wolf, Tiger, Giant, Warrior, Wildcat, Bull, etc in their teams name will say "Come here, you frackers, come here.!" 'Nope! Got-to catch us! If you corner me I might become a scalliwag!' ...It doesn't sound scary at all, does it?
You put the Harlequin up against a Rhino or a Crusader... that would be a short battle. (To a tune, again) 'We're the Harlequins!' (sound our player in a Harlequin shirt being knocked over "...huh? Harle-something, I didn't catch it all. Mothafracker danced up to me and gently hugged me."
If sport is played won by the mind as much as it is won by the body then surely giving the players and fans something positive to call their own, rather than a camp clown.

| Bears! I remember such an animal roaming the streets of Oldham in the early days of SL. Soon rightly went into extinction. Bit like Hull Sharks really.
Of course we could go the whole ridiculous hog (sorry, Keith) and name ourselves after something else that once lived here. London Dinosaurs anybody?

For what it's worth I quite fancy the London Clash. That said, frankly, you can change all you like but it won't matter a jot in terms of attendances without having a team that is capable of mounting a serious challenge for Wembley and/or Old Trafford
