| I will certainly think about going back to watch a few games now if they have the ground open, i really don't think they realised how many people disliked the 1 stand being open, it was awful.
So when did they decide to open the ground up and get away from the graveyard atmospehere of 1 stand? Is this going to be the plan for the remainder of the season.
Nice to see 4k on yesterday, was there a free promo going on or was it paying spectators?

No, but I think Batty's from Bradford so he was probably supporting the visitors.
Didn't see the advert for Surrey cricket, I assume it was primarily for the Twenty20 competition that's just got underway. If anyone's thinking of going, be aware it's £25 to pay on the day, which I think is too much for a competition whose original aim was to fill cricket grounds with people who wouldn't normally think of spending a day at a cricket match:

| Couldn't make the game as off on hols tomorrow so had to save my petrol.
But the guy who was doing the radio commentary seem to think there was more then the 4000+ that was announced..
but listening to the game it sure did sound better with all sides open. It does add to a better commentary when you can hear the crowds around him..
Funny thing is again he left his mic n at half time and you could hear talking with someone who must have be doing cover for Bulls and telling him he cant believe that Quins were behind. He was also saying its down to the right side defence again, other guy seemed to agree and said been your problem all season.. So they notice.

| nearly passed out from shock when i walked through the turnstiles and saw a decent number of fans sat in every stand. It felt like I supported a proper RL club for once. Got to keep it up.

The advert for Surrey Cricket was giving a 20% discount on Twenty20 tickets when bought in advance. Using the code it works out to be £16 for an adult ticket.

| nice thing with the whole ground open was the kids going up to the non playing lads sat in the stand and getting autographs! means a lot to fans that the players are willing to interact a bit like that, the stuff that goes on after the game in the bar is fair enough but lot of folk dont want to hang around for 45

A big rap to the club on this one. Not just the details of the day as pointed out in this thread, but,as with Cas, the choice of match was spot on. It wasn't great rugby but it was a good game with enough skill, biff and incident to keep the newbie interested. Much better than, as in the past, inviting newbies to watch us being slaughtered by Saints in depressing one-way traffic.
... and the weather wasn't bad either. Does Gus M. know something we don't?

| Gus Mackay deserved MOTM for getting that many people along.
On subject of attendances in general, I see Salford got 3200 (not that surprising, I guess) and the Hudds v Cas game got a miserly 5,200. With the season Hudds are having, you would have thought more fans would have been prepared to travel the 10 miles to Halifax.
Round 16 attendances averaged a mere 6613 (down 2665 on last year and the lowest for this round since 2002).

Last season one of the Hudds/Wakey matches (can't remember which was the home team, probably Wakey) only pulled just over 5,000. It's a thirty minute train journey between the two towns, roughly equivalent to the stopping train from Twickenham to Waterloo.

| No, I can see the irony in it Gutters.
However, I am entitled to my opinion that a team that has won 8 of it's 9 home games this season and is 2nd in the league and playing some awesome rugby, deserves to have more people dragging their sorry s to support them (even if it means travelling a whole 9 miles or so to do so.)
Quins fans get loads of stick for not turning up and most of us travel miles to watch a team that produces about 8 home wins every two years.
Sorry if I sound bitter.
PS Their club's been around for 100 years or so, you know, about the same age as Paddock.

Never say sorry.......ever. We are London RL....we never take a backwards step!
That said, given our average crowd at the stoop is 3,605 over 73 games since we returned to TW2, I still would steer away from commenting on other teams attendances, regardless of if that team is older than Paddock or not
BTW.....6,582 is the average at Wakey this year....that's up on last year by nearly 600 a game and I would suspect that will get better as they still have Castleford to come calling.....not bad for a club supposedly dealing with the stench of death according to some.

It's not that anyone else has "low attendances", it's that they often don't seem to get much more for a local derby than when we turn up, therefore a lot of people in the heartlands clearly won't even travel ten miles to see their team. The only "irony" in that is that most of our supporters travel more than ten miles for home games.
