It's not going to be happening overnight, while I accept what you say, but I would not say it is a great rugby stadium, it is okay but so typical union, location is important I feel especially for transport as we are always going to rely on broad supporter base rather than just local. We have had this debate before whenever we have moved, any club in the north would see the same reluctance, but I still say the choice in the end may not be totally ours as a club and this will be the problem as long as we are tenants and answer to a landlord, owning a stadium or co-owning can make extra income streams which to survive all clubs need.

So what about a stadium would made it particularly ideal for rugby league ?

I personally think rugby league blends itself more to a compact stadium, Langtree Park at St Helens is looking ideal, 18,000 capacity may not be adventurous but is it more realistic for them, completely closed in. The Stoop is more open as many union stadiums are, they were first built more for the social side more than being a stadium, granted Quins have worked hard with their developments over recent years.
But it is not really the ground that is the most important Factor for the future, it is the tenant situation, I don't think we can survive that way forever, also travel connections have to be first class so we can draw on fans from across London and not just the local area. St Helens have gone for different suites so the stadium can be used for weddings, events and also business meetings, plus many of the new grounds go for community use every week of the year, that is why Widnes have gone for the new plastic turf, I hope that works, that way the pitch can be used all the time and local councils will then get involved in assisting with costs. Leeds have rooms for Leeds Carnegie Uni in their new stand. It is not moving for the sake of it, it is to ensure a future and to be involved with the community.

Was a coincidence though - although only really started going regularly when they were at Brentford - was a season ticket holder at the London Knights Ice Hockey club and they had around 40 home games a year ( they also played the other end of London so travel wasn't the issue - =#BF0000just having enough free time - ) and didn't fancy adding too many hikes across the capital when Broncos played at Charlton.

Um wasnt actually a fan then, just a casual who watched the big northern sides come down occassionally and was already making 40 trips from Richmond to Crossharbour for the hockey. plus the odd away trip, still made it it to two or three games down at Charlton.
So the point being that fans would be willing to hike across London for 13 games - as opposed to the 50 odd trips I was doing - stands.
What that has to do with our dreadful support only you can explain

You can't fault the way Leyton Orient have given it the publicity to get people talking, with a good media campaign and the East End youth development we are doing I feel we could do well with is match on the road.

Come on! we can all have different opinions! I accept my team West Ham have to leave Upton Park which is sad, but I am unsure I would want to watch football at the Olympic Stadium, unless Ms Karen Brady gets it right LOL with seats covering the track!
I always hated it when we played at the Crystal Palace National Sports Stadium!

I like being so far away from the pitch I don't know what's going on. It spares me from the humiliation of seeing how bad we've been these past three years.

| Well that latest claim takes some beating!! as Moe says on another thread the constant whines and only they can ever be right attitude from a Few and they are only a few is unbelievable!
No wonder many in the North want to kick us out when we have people knocking everything and everyone just for the sake of it!

The LOSC bar is excellent. It's a regular entry in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide and has won CAMRA's National Club of the Year award. It's round the back of the stand on the Oliver Road side. I've never been in on a matchday, only for beer festivals, so I'm not certain how many real ales are normally available - I think it was five, and they're sourced mostly from smaller local breweries. I believe there's a £1 day membership fee, but beer is only £2.70 a pint. The club is staffed entirely by volunteers and it shuts for the duration of the match. (Obviously the volunteers are supporters who want to watch the game so that might not apply for our games.) There's also a large bar under the stand behind one goal, and possibly more bars elsewhere.
I'm glad we using this ground, it's the only modern football ground of a sensible size for us in London, and has good transport links.
As we're playing the first OTR game there I think it would make sense to play the second one there too. Any first timers who go to the first match and enjoy it will have another one to go to a fortnight later - more chance of getting them sufficiently hooked that they'll consider going to further games at The Stoop. Maybe they've got pitch maintenance too? Otherwise I'd look to play both games there.
As the main reason for the on the road games is clearly pitch maintenance, regardless of the club's bizarre decision to spin it as some sort of bold and wonderful initiative without even alluding to pitch maintenance until the fixture list showing consecutive OTR games immediately after the union season ends made it bleedin' obvious, I assume any home tie in the Challenge Cup 5th Round (on the weekend between the two OTR games) will also have to be played on the road.

The only real problem is we are under the control of a landlord who will always have the first call, also it has not been a successful time off the pitch, yes that can be put down to on the field performances, but for me we live under a cloud of the union landlords, hopefully the change of name will now help. But lastly we have very little income sources other than ticket sales, merchandise & sponsorship, either owning or co-owning our own ground may give us better and more income channels.

Do you think thats the main reason Northerners want rid of London rugby?
Or I could ask it another way-Do you think any northerners (1 or more) want rid of us because of what you claim.
What are you smoking?

But Brisbane Road is below SL licensing ground capacity. How come we haven,t had a pitch maintenance problem in the last few years?

It would not cost much to extend Brisbane Road to 12,000 or even 15,000
Does Hull KR's ground qualify for the SL Licensing capacity? amd Brisbane Road is much better.

[iMay[/i give us better income but outgoings on our own ground would probably be significantly more too. I suspect the £200K or so we pay to Quins is a pretty good deal.

5 years of Rugby League every Summer must have taken its toll on the pitch - a wise move by our landlords, especially with Harlequins top of the league at the moment, and a great opportunity for new supporters to jump on the 'Broncos' bandwagon
