There are a number of "stalled" development projects in and around london that would require a cash injection to restart them.
By this, I mean there are sites that have been cleared, there are girders lying on the ground waiting to be errected......there is planning permission in place and there are other parties in need of cash to get their projects completed......
One such development has already been viewed in North West London..........others are to be examined. The club will move where they can truly put down roots....and if that's where they can have a ground of their own, then so be it.

Merton council are very keen to get AFC back in the borough. A deal with another party would help things move along quicker.

I understand that the on the road game at Leyton Orient is an experiment to see if there is an appetite for RL in east London and I have also read the comments from the club that apparently Harlequins want to do some pitch maintenance, so there is no need for anyone to remind me of those facts……but are on the road games a good idea?

I do not know if it was a prerequisite of the RFL that we needed to take a couple of games on the road to new audiences for them to provide the promised RL marketing assistance, but I do not understand the basis for the current thinking that somehow the promised land for London RL is east London. Did I miss the bit where the club provided the in depth analysis and research findings that east London is a veritable hot-bed of RL fans? If this is the case and east London is so blessed with easy transport links into central London, I suppose it begs the question as to why all of these RL followers are not already making the trip to the Stoop…….after all, the expectation seems to be that the loyal followers we already have (who come from far and wide) are expected to make the journey to east London.

In addition, it seems to have been an ever present comment on this board that to make progress we needed to improve the team and heavily market our presence and the game………..the one year when we seem to have those elements, some quality signings and a budget for marketing, we decide to take games out of the local area. What`s so wrong with building on what we already have in the area we are currently located?....and please do not tell me we have tried that, because by all accounts we have never seriously marketed the club.

Contrary to some of the comments made I think that Stoop is one of the best rugby grounds in the country with great facilities, after match party etc which is part of the attraction to away fans……..why does anyone think that sharing a ground with a football club in a sole-less concrete stadium like Wigan, Hull FC and Huddersfield is the way forward. Do those people not remember that in the past we were forced to take our games elsewhere while the football clubs manicured their precious turf……….with our season now starting ridiculously early in February the periods when we would likely be nomads would surely only be extended. No doubt someone will state that Wigan, Hull and Huddersfield make it work, but then again we do not bring in the crowds that Wigan and Hull have so we have less clout to bargain with the landlord.

The rent we pay at the Stoop (circa 200k a year I believe has been mentioned before) must compare favourably with any deal we are likely to get with a football club and we would get to play all our home games at home (I am thinking that the Quins maintenance thing is likely a one-off as we have not had problems of this nature before).

So in my opinion I think we should be staying at the Stoop, concentrate on building on what we already have and invest in marketing what we hope will be a much better product in the coming season. Changing the club name is one thing, but I see no reason to chuck the baby out with the bath water.

Just in case anyone is wondering, I live in south-east London and minimum travel time to the Stoop is 1.5 hours and it would be quicker for me to get to east London, so the above comments are not made out of self-interest.

I don't see what relevance this has. Yes there are stalled developments but none of them, save for Brentford's Lionel Road idea, are anything to do with sporting stadia. Plus we don't have any money, an issue that people in this thread seem willing to overlook.

We have to find money each season to pay the union landlords, St Helens only had around £8K from the sale of Knowsley Road but with different funding from regional development, council etc they raised the rest of the £26K - IF we do continue for many years to come which is my Hope I would not like to see it with no ambition and happy to pay rent and have no income streams except ticket sales and merchandise.

You've (not everyone) picked holes in the club's decision to revert back to the 'London Broncos' name, you spend a large chunk of time abusing players at the club, for example Chad Randall in a thread on here, you regularly pick holes in anything the club does and now people are picking holes in the clubs decision to play two games in other parts of East London and have all but called them unsuccesful and they're still 6 months away from being played.

The worst fans in the league someone said the other day, maybe. The biggest moaning fans in the league, definitely.

You can't praise something that doesn't exist. What discussion would there be if we just praise everything the club does? The way the club is being managed at the moment at the moment is worse than at any other point in memory. Hopefully once the season starts there will be something positive to talk about on the pitch.

Surely the worst management period, in my memory, was that when the club squandered the opportunities raised by Branson's interest and potentially bottomless pot of money, topped off by the publicity generated by a Wembley cup final.

I have always been of the opinion that Branson's expectations were unrealistic in terms of time scale. Looking back on old match day programmes recently, the club seemed far more professional back then especially. The fact that they began stopping us fielding a team full of Australians didn't help, I will concede. It just seems to be one farce after another since last season ended. At least all we really had to complain about last year was the terrible team, especially after those bleating about the West Stand being opened got their way. Now they seem determined to fiddle with everything else.

Good points well made. One off on-the-road games surely wouldn't give much that of an indication to the viability of a longer term move.

Firstly how long would QPR take to build a new stadium with all that comes with it beforehand? Then surely the cost of sale would be high, i'm sure a nice housing developer would be prepared to pay a higher price for the land than Broncos would for the stadium.

Loftus Road is a brilliant stadium, I would be delighted if we moved there permanently. A proper ground with a proper history. Someone told me their are quite a few Polish people living in Shepherd's Bush, they would love Rugby League in my opinion.

What is Quins decide to kick us out at some stage, if we do not have any contingency or long term plans/aims then we are in one mess, what do we do then? I have worked for no business where there has not been a long term business plan and aims, one radio station we had superb facilities but no chance of purchasing the building, it took a long time but we found much better profile premises.

The reason many visiting fans like the after match events is that is part of the union game and it is new to them still!

It is not a matter of in the future sharing with a football club, it is Owning our own ground or co-owning that should be the only time when we really move, if it is our choice and not one given to us to leave.

Those at the club are hard workers and more experienced than any of those posting on these forums. I'm one of the group of previously disillusioned supporters making tentative steps back to supporting London Broncos - everything looks great at the moment.

Slug we are such a Minority here on the forum! I will always back any decision! yes voice my opinion but then Move On! IF ONLY many could do the same and make the most that we have a Super League Club and ensure that is how it stays.

All that is certain is that I will be at the opening game with my 1999 Fosters shirt, in the West Stand I think? Not such a great view in the East from what I read, I've never been to The Stoop.

Transport???? Central Line 10 mins walk, Circle Line (ex Hamm & Fulham) 5 mins walk, Overground (to Clapham & Willesden Junction) 15 mins walk. Countless buses, huge amount of parking within 10-15 minutes of the ground.
At least a dozen pubs closer than the nearest pub to the Stoop, huge variety of eating, from McD and Nandos to pie & mash to Syria, Greece, Thailand.
The only place better situated to have a game is in your back garden.

The thing is even if Broncos did want it and they thought it was a great option how much would it cost to buy?

If that is the case why is it being looked at? as I said earlier even St Helens did not have a lot of money, only from the sale of Knowsley Road which in the end was around £8 million, the new ground cost £26 million with regional funding, council and sports grants they managed it in the end! One of the conditions was that St Helens Town FC could use the ground, now as the ground is nearly completed Saints do not want the football club as it will be too costly to open the ground!

Hopefully the west stand will be a bit more lively than it was last season.
