Dallas made a world record 62 tackles in a State of Origin game. He makes an average 40 tackles a game. I think thats slightly more impressive than anything Robinson and Williamson have ever achieved or are likely to.

Defence can be exciting. Dallas Johnson is an exciting player. Robinson and Williamson are about as exciting as constipation.

Since when do I tolerate it? I'm normally one of the only people who agrees with what you say on here. As ES pointed out, we had to bring them over on 2 year deals, I'm sure most realise they haven't lived up to expectations and we will be on their way at the end of the season.

Fair enough. I'm simply utterly staggered why nobody is made accountable for these horrific decisions. It is beyond belief that Williamson, Robinson and Wells are on contract for next season.

| Williamson and Robinson are on 2 year contracts that expire next year. With that in mind what is so staggering about there inclusion in the squad for next year. Removal, terminations etc does not preclude them from the SC. Equally our quota is full- What is it exactly that you are getting at?
We bought Howell at risk and he has played well. Why arent you suggesting we get rid of him. He was a similar gamble that it appears has paid of.

| Dallas Johnson is not a signing that I would see suitable for Quins.
Catalans have paid huge money for a guy that plays well with stars around him. Excellent defensive rate, no doubt the storms defense will probably need some re-working without him. However he is not the 'star signing' that Quins need.
Put Johnson in a struggling forward pack and you will see him nullified. We really need to work on our 6 and 7. Are halves are ordinary.

| Dallas Johnson will probably be excellent for the Catalans - strong and dependable on the pitch, and an example on and off. He's a flair player at the Storm but they'll miss him.
On the other hand, he may join other NRL Grand Finalists (Chad Robinson being a winner, and Luke Williamson a loser, who would have been in the Manly winning side except for injury) and not be as great as we'd have hoped. If that's the case, then the Catalans are more unlucky as he's on a three year deal.
Personally, not knowing how much money either of ours are on, and understanding that contracts are worth the paper they are written on, I'm simply going to support them in the new season with optimism.

| As posted previously and elsewhere I expect the 2 of them to be much better next year. Look at how mant imports have been disappointing in year 1, Richards, Newton, King and how they improved.

| I reckon Chad Robinson especially has been a quality signing - if you see a strong tackling player to shore your defense up as your priority for using a quota spot. That was BM's decision coz of our leaky defense. Personaly HB was far more important but there you go.
Hopefully Robo will be luckier with injuries and he will have a better season in 2010 ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

| We need them to stay fit and play well this year. The front row is decent, them two in the second row with Purdo at 13 is a good pack. My concern is 6,7 and the other centre spot from Howell.
Melling at FB, Wings ?(I know we have a few new ex Leeds backs)

That makes it all the more worrying. I thought we had brought in 2 backs from Leeds
The fact one is on loan in irrelevant as he is available for us

I thought it was 66. Either way I was sure he held the record.
Frustrating as it is, if we're up to the cap limit already I don't see how we'd have got either. Catalans have a superb aussie recruitment system which has massively helped their transition into SL. We don't, or haven't had since Tony Rea left.
Williamson and Robinson, I hope, will improve next year. They'll need to lead by example and, if they stay fit, there's no reason why they can't get better.

I don't think so. I think a couple of players have beaten it.
Michael Luck of the NZ Warriors made 74 tackles this season. However, this included extra time IIRC, and I have no idea how many tackles he made after 80 minutes.

Agreed. In the past Ive always defended us strongly when we've been accused of having a weak squad, but this will be the first year ill struggle to argue. There's a worrying lack of elite RL players in our squad now. We need Clubb and LMS to really step up or we're in trouble.

Out of interest, how many elite players would you say we have in the squad and how many do you think we need.
I do agree with your point. Whatever the magic number is I think it is save to say we don't have enough.
From our current group of players Chad Randall, Rob Purdham (if fit), Louie and possibly Danny Orr would get in most other sides. Karl Temata does a lot of good work as well, but is getting older now.

Im unsure, being optimistic i guess you can make a case for Purdham, Orr, Ward, Randall, LMS, Clubb, Temata. Im only confident putting Purdo and Randall in there to be honest. The problem is none of the 4 or 5 players on the fringe of being elite quality are really outstanding enough to really turn a game. We've lost players like Marty, Paul, Leuluai, Hopkins and replaced them with really average players. Even Sykes and Sheriffe, who were both replaceable in my opinion, are still being missed.

Pretty sure Nathan Hindmarsh holds the record of 75 v Melbourne Storm in 2007.
Back on topic, in my personal opinion a fit Rad Chobinson is a quality back rower for the money he would be on, and money to spend on a marquee player for this club should be spent on a 6,7. Some serious lack of leadership and creativity is evident at the club.
