Thanks for everyone's comments on the testimonial tshirts.
In terms of the logos, it's not a case of not being able to remove the logo it's the fact that certain sponsors require their logos to be used in a particular way, in some cases with the backgrounds included. That's not saying that companies won't use logos without backgrounds in the future.
The shirt was indeed modelled on a former London Broncos design. news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/330000/im ... iah150.jpg
The shirt in the image on the Quins site is in fact the cotton tshirt which is available to purchase. The replica shirts will also be on sale but only the match worn versions which will be used for the testimonial game.

| I for one always preferred the away version of this shirt. That's why the red one is one of only two I don't have - despite it being the Wembley one. The fact is that we have had various combinations of red, yellow and blue over the years and while I would concede red was typically the dominant colour you might want to consider the 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998 and 2001 shirts as for evidence that we were in fact a tri-coloured team rather than a red one.
Using the red version as inspiration for this shirt might have been an idea as it was the Wembley shirt but Jon Wells was not in that team, and the more subtle dark blue does make this shirt more suitable for casual wear.
As for the sponsors logos. Get over it. Since when have be ever had a kit where the sponsors logos don't look sh*t? And I remind you that however bad you might think they are, it's still preferable to having Virgin in huge lettering across your midriff!

So we designed it on the shirt that we wore when we beat Wells' team in the semi's? (iirc). Tad' harsh that. . Since when did they design shirts thinking, what will look better on fans for casual wear..
London Broncos colours were red, yellow and white. Look at our old badge, they are our colours.
IMO, Virgin looked ALOT better than this, least Virgin made it look a little bit better than this sponser that just stands out to much.

Actually tons of sports clubs do this these days and given the Quins colours if ever there was a team that needed to do this it's us! Besides it is actually casualwear as it's just a t-shirt. The replica shirt will be worn once in a pre-season friendly and sold to fans to raise money for charity - therefore if they're gonna shift them they need to be something Quins fans would wear as casualwear.

'"
Er sorry no. Badges tend to reflect the colours, sure, but they do not dictate what the colours are. Every Broncos home shirt in the Superleague era has blue as at least the second colour so therefore it is one of our colours. For a club with so many colours over the years, not to mention identities, the badge should never be considered much of a guide. The Broncos badge (which did change design slightly after the first season of Superleague) was originally a St George Cross and a Bronco. We took the yellow bronco from the badge of the Brisbane Club that owned us at the time with the St George's cross to indicate that we were the "English Brisbane Broncos" club. Our playing kit for a while was Brisbane Broncos colours so in no way reflective of the badge and when the dust settled our colours remained the same throughout our existence - Red, Blue, Yellow and White in that order. Those were our colours. End of.

Hello all,
I would like to give some insight into Jon's testimonial.
Given a free hand Jon would surely have wanted to select a game in the Summer at the Stoop of Quins RL v Castleford Tigers and I am also sure he would have liked to choose a shirt based on what would sell the most. Jon's game was in many ways predetermined.
He could not produce a shirt that also commemorated the club's 30 year anniversary (as Harlequins RL may do this) nor one which would be in direct competition with the club's offerings so it means a Quins design would not have been approved and likely a Fulham coloured shirt or something based on the London Broncos home shirt would be ruled out.
Jon did get to select a design he liked commemorating the start of his 7 years at the club.
I do not understand why the shirt is compared to ones which are three times more expensive. This is not a fair comparison. At £18 it is only a third of the price of last season's official shirt.
Check out the design in the shop stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/JW2010-Testimonial
Please do compare the shirt to the ones on here which are a plain white t-shirt with no embroidery - although a pleasing design - or the Puma t-shirts in the Harlequins shop. That is a fair benchmark.
Also, as for the sponsors on the shirt, these brand logos are as they are. Would people have preferred to pay more for a shirt with slight variants on them. My guess is no.
Cheers
Mark

| iirc the blue version of the shirt was originally the "home" shirt. Maybe the Broncos wore the red version in the semi against Cas' because we were were to all intents and purposes the away team (loved the "you're supposed to be at home" chant to the Cas' fans when we were on top in the first half!). Anyway, following the win at Headingley and the subsequent wearing of red in the final we then seemed to switch to red for the home shirt.

We have always had a red shirt for home when London Broncos, the only time i remember having any blue on our home kit is when we were at the stoop the first time and we had quaters, one quater was blue, the others, red, yellow, and one other.
I can never remember having a non-red based home shirt.
Broncos colours were predominantly red, yellow and white.
Saying that our badge was related to our colours might of been a wrong comparison but we have always had those 3 colours.

Yes... and Blue! Blue is our second colour (if there is such a thing) - that's why we had it as our main away colour for just just about every Broncos away shirt that ever existed. Can you seriosly not remember any blue on out home shirt. Maybe these pictures from across the years may jog your memory.

Notice the 2001 shirt worn by Dusty - more Blue than red I'd say - and yes it WAS a home shirt but they couldn't win in it and so brought back the previous season's red shirt for a bit to try and make the play offs!
As for the 1999 shirt I do now recall the blue one starting off as the home one. Certainly we wore it for the home game following the semi final win and that is the day I bought mine believing it to be the home shirt. In any case I hope we can now all agree that blue is the colour - well one of them.

Of course, because the rest of the forum are in agreement that the club are right 100% of the time. What were my negative comments towards the new sponsor? Even my latest stalker had to make up what I said on that occasion.
