| Quote ="Exiled down south"He hasn't achieved anything yet and is very junior in terms of coaching. He got one of 3 full time teams in the second tier of RL to second place(took a hammering at the top club). We were knocked out of the CC at the first hurdle at home. We performed poorly earlier in the season losing games that maybe we shouldn't, and after the Toulouse game we dipped.
We did well against a poor Catalans team away on Sat but didn't win critically. Let's not get overly excited.
Don't for one moment compare him to D.Powell. He has done the hard yards with a number of clubs in 2 leagues for years.'"
From my perspective there is some validity in this, although it rather takes 2nd place for granted (given that one of the other full-time teams is Bradford). However, I feel that Hendo's influence on the regeneration of the Club as a whole is not being recognised here. He appears to be a central figure in this, and any growth and results on the playing field must be matched with growth and results off it. Neither will be achieved overnight, but we are making strides on both fronts.

Thats a very poor comparison, I'm sorry but that doesn't make our success/failure this season any more remarkable.
I agree he is keen to bring the club together but he's inherited that by default. Im sure Mac, Powell, Joey all wanted something similar. As you have suggested only time will tell. History has shown DH wants immediate success and that clearly hasn't worked. Sadly when you watch SL games there are many ex Broncos juniors playing.

| Four full-time teams if you include the Bulls. I think you've got a good coach but as it as been said, finished 2nd and are full-time so should have been expected. Next season if you are still in the Championship you need to be pushing for first spot all the way, your squad looks pretty decent just depends who else is in there. Fax have managed 2 out 3 middle 8's under Marshall with a part-time squad so Hendo should be pushing for more from his players. Last few games will be interesting but your result last week could really screw you in the end, look forward to our game.

| I disagree that DH wants immediate success. If he had wanted that he would have done a kougash. He wants success though, but is that not the aim of every person involved in sport, you generally don't play to lose.
Is it just hendo? Or is it not the coaching team that are responsible for what is happening at the club overall? I would say the latter. Don't get me wrong hendo is the pivot point but in the grand scheme of things and likely hood of him being poached, reality is we have achieved nothing extra this year yet! And his worth as a coach is yet to be proven

Sheens, Marshall and Sharp have all performed better than Hendo this year. You could even include Duffy at Swinton with a club about to fold.
Well done to Fax on the performance yesterday at Wire, very impressive. Demonstrates why you have the best defence in the league.
Next year there will be Toronto who will be dangerous, Toulouse, one full time team Possibly HKR, Leigh, Catalans, Widnes etc, plus London pushing at the top. Not forgetting Fax and Fev who have been tremendous over the past few years.

| I honestly think we have strength in the squad and the skills to win these games but we manage to give games away with stupid errors. I think in the second half we showed that we can play some expansive and open rugby, and it got results.
Next game against wire, I really don't know what to think, I reckon either a 50 point spanking or another result with only 2 or 3 points in it

| Another big test for the coach and his troops. This will provide us with a gauge of where we are both as a team and the quality of the coach(not just wire game but our standing in the 8s)

| Brave effort against the Wire tonight.
The first 20 minutes of the 2nd half killed us but the lads didn't give up.
Think Hendo deserves a lot of credit for this, fair play to him

| You only had to look at the two coaches to see that Hendo is a coach who is on the up. Where Smith looked tired and rather lost.

| Smith looked knackered. Think this season has taken its toll on him, I would be surprised if he is still in place next season, even if they do go through unbeaten.
Think hendo was just frustrated

Just watched both coaches' post match interviews, Hendo pretty bright and upbeat despite the loss, still hopeful of getting 5th place.
Smith on the other hand looked absolutely wrung out, and then started making the usual excuses about the pitch, and about travelling down.

| With it being said that Maguire is now staying in Australia. Hendo is now being mentioned as a replacement for Tony Smith.
He did his cause no harm at all last Saturday night.

| The guy has ambition and talent . When he took London job his family were in Castleford and that did not hold him back.
He will move, it may not happen yet, but it will happen.
I do not think David Hughes would hold him back either.

| Hendo will not get the Wire job, not a chance on this earth is Simon Moran going to gamble on bringing in a junior unproved coach to turn around a failing monster.
I'm still unsure what Hendo has achieved. Maybe I'm missing something.

| Am with you bosty, if he got offered a job with a big club why would he turn it down? It would be stupid of him if he chose to turn it down should an offer come up.
I would be gob smacked if he went to wire though, I am more with the other suggestion that Catalan might have tempted him.
Funny old thing I agree with WQ as well, I like the bloke (hendo not WQ) but what actually has he achieved? As a club so far we have achieved nothing apart from what was expected! Finish second to Hull KR, and unless we do summat pretty special in our next 3 games we will miss out on the MP game which in my mind is actually an under achievement this season.
So what actually has he done that makes him stand out.

Throw in knocked out of the cup at the first attempt by a champ 1 team, beaten 3 times by HKR, finished behind the only decent full time team by a fair margin, unconvincing at home against Fev twice, beaten by Fax away.... Nothing special at all.

| Calm down WQ calm down let's not kick the fella too much while we have him down.
Agreed though losing to to north Mexicans was annoying.
The fev thing is more a testament to the qualities of the fev coach (coaches) I feel.
I think one indication is how the players perform on Sunday, if we play the way we did on sat we should win by a wide margin, can the coach make sure the players come out with the right attitude!

| With Andrew what a Super League Chairman would be looking at is his potential. He has shown that his teams, play a good brand of rugby. They are well disciplined and he gets a lot out of them. He is not afraid to make difficult decisions such has dropping star players who are not performing. He handles himself well with the media.
Over the last couple of seasons his teams have improved and I am sure he is on the radar of some chairman.
Okay he has not won anything, but it is still early days. Given the bigger budget of he SL clubs I think he would do well.
Anyway, time will tell.
