Underhill itself isnt too bad,
The key issues are to do with access and the councils refusal to allow improvements. We used to lease the cricket pitch behind the south stand from the council and we had a right of access behind the East Terrace to enable vehicles access to the southern end of the ground.

Problem started when the council asked for a large sum of money to allow us to continue using the access road and to renew the lease on the cricket pitch.

Without this access it no longer complies with football league requirements so the writing was on the wall.

The other factor for moving is the cost of maintaining an old ground was a burden. Particularly as the main stand was built as a time when asbestos was regularly used as a building material and so extra care has to be taken.

The original underhill had quite a slope in a number of directions before some substantial realignment by Barnet. Indeed there are worse grounds than the current layout some still in the FL but on the basis of photos and website (it's all I've seen) the Hive gives Barnet far more opportunity to prosper in the medium term.

And your tone is abrasive, but hey we all have our problems. I claim no knowledge of Rugby league or Broncos but being a Barnet fan means I am entitled to know a bit about my own team and where they play.

To be honest with you, when you posted your insults about my teams home ground I found it very hard to remain polite. It's true I look at Underhill with rose coloured glasses, it means a lot to me, I have no attachment to the Hive and this is true of most fans I know with a fair number still refusing to go to the new ground.

I'm sorry if you don't like my tone. Considering how little information you are getting from Broncos I thought some might appreciate passing on whatever I can. It's clear you know the area and according to twitter recently visited the Hive, so anything I say is nothing new to you. Well said. I too am very nostalgic about Underhill. But you can't expect a Broncos fan to understand as they've never owned their own ground! I hope the likes of Tre won't put you off sampling the RL at the Hive. Most of my fellow Bees are keen on giving it a go.

To be honest when it was first announced that Barnet were seeking a new home I felt we shoulda made some sort of offer for Underhill, only been there a coupla times, but I like it, but then I don't like these new characterless "flat-pack" grounds, nor do I give a hoot about this access, that access, baby-changing facilities, seats and the like. I'm only there for 2 hrs or so ffs!

The broncos have played at some rough places as well over the years. Some of the negativity on this board considering the club has just been saved a short time ago is ridiculous. If any Bees fans are thinking of coming to games please ignore them. RL is a great game and if we can get a competitive team together you will enjoy yourselves.

The Hive looks like a cracking venue, looking forward to our first game there - would be more than happy for any Bees fans remotely curious about Rugby League to join us, I'm sure you'll enjoy it! You're right Gutterfax. I don't deny my faults and overreacted because you had told people their season ticket could be over £700. I was trying to encourage people to come to the Hive rather than scare them off. Believe me if we started talking about planning and leases then there is plenty enough to frighten people.

I should and could have phrased it better and I am sorry for being so abrupt in my response. My intention was to challenge the inaccuracy and highlight the correct figures.

I don't intend to post on here any more seeing as my responses have upset some but it would be great if some Bronco fans joined up with the Barnet forum to keep the communication flowing. We have a thread on there covering questions about RL which most of us seem to be in the dark about. They are fairly minor questions like how is there going to be reviews as the Hive has no scoreboard.

Salford on Feb 22nd will be a decent hit out......the BIG name clubs come towards the seasons end and if you're keen to see a London Victory, Wakefield, Castleford and Bradford would be the games I'd try to get to. Avoid Warrington's visit like the plague...it could scar you for life.

I'm on that too. The call to arms essay I wrote on the Broncos thread may have been a little OTT but the ethos behind it is I think sound. Both clubs are stronger together than on their own and I hope to see a cross polarisation of faces in what looks a likely 36 visits to the Hive in 2014.

Dont worry sensitive Barnet fans, we love you really. Id much rather have soccer fans to cooperate with than the rah rahs. Looking forward to it.
