| Find a really good entertaining game make shed loads of free DVD's, put them in The Sun, The Express, The Guardian.
God knows how much that will cost, get em hooked that way.
"oh look a free DVD, let's watch it............wow what a great sport where is the nearest professional club?"
see's the details on sleeve of DVD
"Maybe i could venture down and watch more of this, it's amazing"

er....a lot more than it would ever ever recoup, so Quins will probably do it
Free DVD's cost money to produce........pack, deliver to the newspaper(s) who will not only charge a shed load for advertising the free DVD, but also to distribute to the newsagens. If that's not enough, all non-sold copies would need to be returned to the newspaper and then the club (more money) and then you may get lucky and flog them for 1p each and they will turn up in a car boot sale about a year later.
Cost estimate to produce 100,000....and all of the above? I'd say 600k minimum. Response? Let's say people get curious, you would need to sell 40,000 tickets at 15 quid each to break even...and given we are on less than that for ALL season so far......I think it's a complete non-starter.
Therefore, expect a free Harlequins Rugby League DVD to be available in the Observer in December this year (with a free bonus DVD on the making of the Massive Viral Video)

| Its interesting to see whats happened to League in London, as an Aussie who was living in London back in 97 when the Broncos came second, the year of the world club championship etc, i went to quite a lot of games as a mate was playing for the broncos
I seem to remember live TV games, Richard Branson & other celebrity supporters, the crowds werent that bad from memory, the bar at the stoop was fantastic after games, a real good atmosphere etc
what happened, the basis seemed like it was there & things were growing, i however do realise that everyone is football mad & with so many teams in London it makes it hard

It's a good idea, may not happen, but can have my £20 that was originally pledged to the 30 year banner towards it, maybe the club could split 50/50 with supporters or offer an incentive, eg a special raffle for a signed shirt, £4 or whatever a ticket, when the funds are raised the raffle is drawn and the advert is bought

it was in cirulation when I suggested the club use it............but we all know your thoughts on anything I suggest jbuzza.....so let's see how the TW2 Marketing Genius goes in 2011.
Bus pass holder anyone. Anyone available to star in the second (we were promised more IIRC) viral campaign?

Didn't say it was about me...I said it was in circulation when I first suggested it as a route to market. As it is, you didn't agree that it was a good idea in the first place...
Quote ="jbuzza"Right on we need really edgy stuff like adverts in the residents magazine and sponsored flowers at the railway station.'"
edgy stuff hey..........virals that no fu&ker saw? Oyster Card Holders to workers in Canary Wharf...that's edgy stuff is it?
As for the flowers....you as usual miss the point or ignore it. What I suggested was:
11. Twickenham Station: This is a real bone of contention for me. Very few people in the area know we exist and yet, the best way to let them know sits unused. It is estimated that 75,000 people a day use Twickenham Station, so why not sponsor it, get a local florist/landscaper to fill the place with colourful plants and occasionally have players/cheerleaders handing out flyers to commuters in the evening.
Flowers were part of the package....sponsor the station, brighten it up...get people to notice we even exist....bring something to the community.....oh, on the cheerleaders front, I see London Irish were doing something similar to this recently......but hey, it's all about me!

| I reckon half naked women with painted on Quins shirts throwing rugby balls on a Friday and Saturday night outside the pubs and refusing any male advances saying "you want to chat me up then do it at the stoop"
Plus free beer
job done
possibly free Warburtons bread and crumpets

| I'm no expert in marketing but imo a voucher giving entry for say £2 providing you enter your contact details on the back. Only for games against (for want of a better word) lesser teams who, (a) you have a realistic chance of beating and (b) your crowds are at their worst.
Hopefully as well as boosting crowds for certain games you might end up with a few contact details to offer promotions to in the future.
As you may have guessed from my username i now live in Eastbourne. I work on the trains and regularly see quite a few in quins RU shirts travelling long distance from areas such as Haywards Heath and Crawley travelling to RU games. Potential fans are out there if your club can convince them to come.
Brighton & Hove Albion have a sposership deal with Southern trains which offers free travel to home games within a certain area. The match ticket is the train ticket on the day. Maybe a similar arrangement with Southwest trains is possible?

Great idea and great post, if you changed the price a little you could sell it as
"Come and see Quins for a quid!"
Would mean that the punter feels like they are buying a product, or some ST holders might even splash out a fiver and take 5 friends along who would enjoy the game
If this is too much like giving away freebies could always just limit it to kids like west ham did a few years ago with their kids for a quid promos
And the club regards u21s as kids this year so perhaps a few students from st marys might come along as a cheap nights entertainment

Until last April, I had never driven a car in my life.........so knowing what train goes where and at what "scheduled" times was important to me as it's how I got around. Same with buses and tubes.

Titans is free trains, and free buses are laid on at certain points to get fans to the stadium if you have purchased a ticket, although i have never seen a driver etc request to see a ticket, mainly because its impossible to park near Skilled park, the police set up a perimeter.Think the Brisbane Broncos do a similar thing, drops you right off at Suncorp stadium.
