As for the transient Aussies, I stood next to two on the Ealing Road Terrace moons ago. He was on the VB while his mate smoked a joint! He was very surprised to find we had Jim Dymock and Jason Hetherington playing for us. Two big name Aussies and he wasn't aware. That showed me how much yer average Aussie knew about London RL.

If I was living in Sydney and Shane Williams and James Hook were turning out for Randwick, I'd know about it and be down there!

FWIW, we are a West London club. If the Olympic Stadium would be good for RL, fine, but irrelevant to us, somebody else should have a go at it.

This from a Leigh fan, a heartlands club who have 3 figure attendances! Don't you think you should move over to blackburn or burnley? If you stay where you are between Wigan and Wire and Salford i can see your little club dying.

Doubt it. If we were to go under again, I am sure the "club" would move on.....maybe in the Championship, but it would continue in some form.
As for advise regarding geographical location...I take it you know London well. If so, you will be able to tell us your projected fan numbers from East London if we were to move to the Olympic Stadium....looking forward to seeing those when you post them


The problem with Quins RL is not the name (Union etc..)or the location, it is the failure to get the message out there that we exist. I have lost all interest in targeting ANZAC fans....they have no interest and it's doubtful many would travel to Loftus Road...let alone the Olympic Stadium. Even if you built a stadium in Shep-Bush green I doubt many would bother.....the target audience the club need to concentrate on is the borough of Richmond Upon Thames/Twickenham.........and they need to get the "family day" thing going...with mums and dads encouraged to bring their kids to a game with no blood scandals, no racist chanting and very little swearing if any.......
London RL has about 1250 to 1,750 fans that would travel to any southern ground to watch the club play under any name, but to throw the towel in after 5 years would just compound the issue again.

When did we last get three figure attendances brains? I don't get why your average attendace on the SL stats on this have got you at 6535 when your biggest crowd has been 5200 against St.Helens. Must have Murrayfield Magic boosting it up. Your actual average crowd at The Stoop is 3112. Leigh got battered in SL and averages 4736. I think a Quins fan starting an arguement with anyone on crowds is incredible. My little club will outlive your little club my freind.

You know a town is pretty dire when it's commonly refered to as 'the poor relation of Wigan'. So, you got a thousand odd higher attendance in SL than we did? Well, throw open the gates, scrap the London team, if we're going to promote our game we need Leigh in Superleague, it's clearly the cosmpolitian, cultural, economic hub of the country, it deserves a spot. I mean with the 'pie olympics' taking place in Wigan this year and indeed every year, we need it's little cousin Leigh in the Superleague.

If you had listened to every single post I have ever written on about expansion and who should and shouldn't be in or out of Super League, you will notice that every single time I put Quins in and don't put Leigh in. But thanks for tearing apart the town that my family are from and my daughter will have to grow up in. Mate, i'm originally from Golborne, whether you like it or not the only thing i was always sure of in a night in Leigh was someone trying to start a fight. Without meaning to sound rude most of that area is extremely poor and full of insecurity. Hilton Park was in its latter years a den of hate and small mindedness, i hope that hasn't been carried on to the LSV? Now i've been watching the Quins a few times and i have to be honest they are THE most friendly and welcoming fans in SL and i for one hope that people see the value of this. With the rise in the number of people playing i can see there being a very slow trickle of rising attendances, it's just going to take a little patience.

My theory would be, quoting you, use the '1250 to 1750 fans that would travel to any southern ground to watch the club play' and go to the Olympic Stadium, get the top facilities, top rail link and fantastic stadium along with all the promotion that would go with it and use that to not only attract better players, but also every single travelling fan will want to go to that stadium. Your crowds arn't exactly going to suffer are they if you get 1500 from Richmond and any newcomers nearer the Olympic site plus all the away following.

It is a dump i know, i won't counter that but didn't Leigh used to fill Hilton Park about 40 years ago and your crowds shrank year on year? It's not so much a Quins problem but for a few exceptions, a rugby league problem. As for the olympic stadium idea would you move your ground 30 miles away !

Why do you keep yapping on about Leigh to me? What have they got to do with your crowds? All the RL fans that say 'you're just a small town near Wigan'. We know this, you're stating the obvious. We can't deny it! If any fans think we think we are ever going to compete with the enormous clubs in SL like Wigan, Leeds, Saints and Hull F.C. we know we're not. We like our Rugby and the stadium we play in and the odd spell in SL, a good cup run and competing for the Northern Rail cup and we're happy.

I'm 'yapping' about Leigh because i'm trying to put it into context for you. You[Leigh wouldn't relocate 30 miles neither would most clubs BUT it's ok for Quins just because it's a shiny new stadium? It would be a really bad idea and i live a lot closer to Stratford than Twickenham. Like someone said previous it is the over saturation of football in London. Moving to the east would be worse, Charlton, Millwall, West Ham, Leyton orient, Tottenham, Arsenal. No one except those that already do would be that excited

How is saying that Leigh is small but London is big putting things into context? I understand this! You don't understand what context is mate. How can you say moving a club to a city that is closer to about 6 or 7 clubs is the same as moving a club around one of the largest cities on the planet that a club has pretty much to itself? It's inposible to compare the situations with the two clubs.

i understand were your coming from, as a leyther myself i would not want leigh to move out of leigh! its local for me , theres plenty of pubs around !

what jonny is probably trying to say is ....how would your make your crowds bigger?? is there any promotions you offer to get people in the stadium.? To be fair theres many of clubs in the same situation!! take salford for example, manchester/liverpool have 4 prem sides and a few good SL team , pies, saints, wire ...... So their crowds must also be affected in the same way.
