I think Walker is also out for a few games as well. This sluggish recruitment approach is really dodgy. Basically this year is what it is but if we want to do well back in Championship in 2025 we cant keep doing this.

The relative silence on here barely a week before season starts speaks volumes as to the mood of Broncos fans. Although no point denying we’ll moan about anything, objectively things are looking a trifle bleak and very much as was for season 2023- which is really frustrating. Here’s hoping we get our act together mid season in a similar fashion. I’m unclear whether it’s IMGs little truth bomb five and a half minutes after we gained promotion or incompetence that has shaped our approach. On the field we’ll just have to see what happens, off it we’ve improved some things - website and comms look sharper, they’ve made some small efforts to engage with the community in the immediate area, but other things, small squad, ‘no’ sponsors, limited merchandise range have an all too familiar feel. Here’s hoping by end of the month things looking a little brighter.

One week into season player from another SL team comes in on loan. Bit of a sad indictment that.
Jones- good player- although seemingly not good enough to get into Leigh first team. Is there a case perhaps for giving young player likely to be with us next year some experience or are we already down to the academy players? In any event, in the absence of any recruitment we may want to extend the loan. I trust the bright lights of a Widnes loan don’t pull him away again.

Are we only signing former players then? Sadly we need a bit more than Jacob can offer, but another body on board I guess.

Lewis's injury was worse than expected, hence the loan

Pleased we have him in the team but (a) not a like for like for Lewis, (b) not a good look getting loanees in at this stage and straight into squad and (c) not knee deep in SL experience. But we are where we are.

The long form Eccles interview on YouTube suggests we are getting another loanee in next week. He’s said it’s not a spine player so not sure who. Possibly a big unit to give us a bit more beef in Lewis’ absence.
I recall after one of our pre season game he spoke about having identified some players who weren’t able to influence a game. Unclear who he meant as from what I can see if they are fit they’ve been in the side.

Very true Buzz but after 2 games (injuries to one side), there is so little class in the team to trouble any/many (delete as appropriate) teams. Unless the plan is to bring the quality in 2nd half of the season like last year, good prospects are not what we need. Glad to have another body on board though.

I agree totally. It's 3 seasons in a row we have started the year with a squad that is nowhere near good enough.

3 years on the spin we have rocked up to the start of the season knowing our squad is too thin. Real learning opportunity there for next season surely.

Sam Hall did a good job for us a couple of season back. Hopefully this kid can as well. In any event there should always be space in any squad for someone called Fenton.

Aren't the team going to be knackered soon? Dean Parata has already (well) exceeded 100 tackles for the season. No wonder he came off after 70 minutes against the Catalans. I think Rob Butler may be averaging more than a tackle per playing minute. We'll soon run out of players; more so than currently.

This is the problem with having such a thin squad. Obviously the step up from reserve level will be huge this season too.

And London being London will no doubt fail to learn from this I would expect.

Tison signed on permanent contract to end of season and Jones on loan to end of season.
I think we all saw the latter coming a mile off. He’s been solid this season. If we retain him for next season I think he will do well in the Championship. Tison I think has become more influential game on game and I think adds something. All in all a good day’s work.
