I'm pretty chuffed with the squad. I agree with Tony Smith's comments...the Four Nations is obviously about now, but we have to look to the future. Giving the youngsters a chance this early in their careers can only be a good thing, it'll build their experience and show them what it's like at the top test level.
We've seen Wellens, Pryce et all picked year after year and fail against the Aussies...lets at least give these youngsters the chance to show what they are capable of on that stage. Sure, we may lose badly....but 4/5 years down the line we'll be competing better than the "old skool" bunch have done I'm certain.

Yes, but neither have they made the 4 Nations squad. They're playing against Wales, then that's it.

| Surely this is the squad for the Wales match and not for the 4 Nations? Leeds and Saints players will be given rest time after the GF and the 4 Nations squad will be different with players dropping out/coming in.

| There are two squads, one for Wales (this one) and another one for the 4nations, I can't be bothered to get the link for the 4 nations, i think its in with the orginial link, not checked it yet.
Edit: There isn't a link in the orginial one. Go to the VT, they have the link. ![Smile icon_smile.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_smile.gif)

yep sorry mate you were right
2 seperate squads, one for the wales game and then the 24 for the 4 nations! confusing way of doing things but can only be a good sign for the english game that they can do it
wonder if the 24 4 nations squad is fixed or if the ones who have been ommitted have the chance to force there way in with a good performance at Bridgend

| I'm not sure why Clubb has been selected tbh. Do people think if he played for Salford, he would be picked then too? Me thinks not. Sympathy pick IMO.

Kinda agree, kinda don't.
Think he's in there to mix with the bright talent in the league to hopefully improve him as a player. I mean how many young british centres with his size are there atm?

You really think a 1 off friendly against a pathetic Wales side will improve him as a player? I agree though, we are majorly lacking centres.

Maybe Tony Smith thinks that the talent is there and that he can iron out a couple of problems? Let's hope so.

Yes, in favour of a loose forward playing in the centres. Sort of says a lot about where Smith sees Clubb in the long term doesn't it.
I thought we were trying to get awy from players playing out of position.
We shall see on Saturday how this bright idea pans out.

| Clubb has to be injured, even if Clubby wants to play in the second row you wouldn't pick someone who has only ever started a game in the back-row as the centre for the national side.

He has actually played Centre a few times, including a Challenge Cup Final. I don't think he will look out of place, and I would obviously pick him over Clubb.

Forgot to go back to 2005 when he played a few times in the centres for Wigan. Still he will never worry the Aussies or Kiwis there, although there is a measure of respect from Aus and NZ for Sean Awfulin in the back-row.
